VETS: Update

WEDNESDAY

Unfortunately the weather continues to play havoc with our program resulting in our Wednesday competition being cancelled yet again.  We are hoping for better conditions next week but, the course is very wet still.

HOST DAY PROGRAM

Mt Coolum on May 16 went ahead, thanks to the determination of the Vets Committee and Management down there. We thank them for that.  It was good to get out and play golf again, and to catch up with Todd and Brendan again was a bonus.

Eighty eight players trudged their way around the course with many walking and others in carts confined to the cart tracks.  Cooroy players did us proud.  Mike Kent (alias Clark) easily won A grade with 40 points, prompting the locals to demand a blood test and a speech.

And the smile on Jimmy Henderson face was wider than normal taking out second place in C grade with 34 points.  Others did well too namely Matt McQueen, Jack Timm, Peter Jeucken and Michael Smith who came in with 33 points.

While we got beaten by Mt Coolum in the Coo-Coo Shield event on the day by some 60 shots, we won overall because we blew them away at Cooroy in February.  Another great day with our friends from Mt. Coolum.

Nambour visiting us on May 23.  Unfortunately this day has been officially called off and another date will be arranged.

An updated sheet for the Jim Penman Host Day Trophy sees Gary Stephens leading the way with an aggregate of 172 after 5 rounds, closely followed by Anthony Jones and Clark Kent on 170.  There is a big gap then to the next pack.  Stay tuned.
