CAPTAIN’s CORNER

It is nice to see that our golf course is finally drying up.  As we have drier weather forecast this week, we may even see a bit of run on the fairways for next week’s monthly medal.

This week’s game saw a very good attendance from our members.  We were also fortunate enough to have several visitors in Ken Gray from the NSW Central Coast, Ted Leese from Sydney, Trevor Pridham from Naracoorte, SA, and 2 players from closer to home in Ian Moore and Kim Blackburn from Gympie.  Kim, playing off 15, scored a very impressive 43 points.

Coming up is our Host Day at Gympie on Monday 19^th of August.   Nominations close on the 15^th of August. We won’t be supplying a bus, so I suggest we car pool.   Let me know if you require a ride.

Also coming up is the Sunshine Coast District Veterans Championships at Peregian on Monday the 2^nd of September. The event will be played in A, B, C, and D grades.  Details are on the notice board.

Working Bee: Will be held on Tuesday the 13^th of August, 7.30 am at the green keepers shed for approx 2hrs.

It seems Don Clellands’ strategy of sizing up the opposition before heading out to play paid off but only after a count back.   

Hasse Andersson carded an excellent 44 points to take out C Grade. 

Welcome to new member John Clements playing his first game with the Vets.

Great to see Don Pigdon back although he won’t be playing for a little while yet.  Don rode around as an observer and honorary course marshal keeping an eye out for slow play.  He didn’t need to wield his badge so the field must have been moving along okay.
