Veteran’s Update – 9th July 2026

We created a new Vet’s Wednesday record with 106 playing in our combined 4BBB and Single Stableford competitions.
“Well done everyone for turning up!”

With only 5 months to go before we hold our AGM (Wed. 4th November), I wish to give plenty of notice by announcing early that both Jim Henderson & myself will not be standing for any of the committee positions. We have both served in various Committee roles for 15 years and feel that we deserve a rest.

The PACE of PLAY stats will be displayed on the whiteboard next week so the players causing the problem can see how this affects the whole field. The players causing the problem will be advised. The 1st group to finish playing 18 holes took 3.53 hours. A hold up by groups mid-field caused later groups to take 5:15 to finish their rounds. Slow groups need to work out ways of improving their times. We do not wish to impose penalties at the moment.

WEDNESDAY’S COMING UP

Next Wednesday is the first of two rounds of “THE OLD COURSE CHALLENGE”.
It is also a time to remember two of our foundation members, the late Lionel Willett & Ed Otto who established the Cooroy Vets in 1985. The game is played over 2 rounds in conjunction with an 18-hole Single Stableford Event. Round 2 will be played the following week (weather permitting).

The MSL system will also calculate your score for the “OLD 9 HOLE COURSE”. There are separate prizes for each round and a perpetual framed trophy for the aggregate winner.

HOST DAY’S COMING UP

On Monday the 7th of August we travel to Caloundra. More details will be available once we receive their nomination sheet.

A timely reminder that any late cancellations must advise Host Day Captain Tina Thomas on 0419 901 163.

SCDVGA COMING UP

The next District event on the Calendar is on Thursday the 16th of July and is the “Team Challenge” that will be played at Tin Can Bay this year. Nomination are closed.

  • Best value for money golf course on the Sunshine Coast. A really fun course layout, forces you to use multiple clubs off tees And have good course management. The grains are in great condition and are really receptive

  • Fantastic golf course! Really well setup with signage, sand buckets, and ball cleaners on most tees. This course is designed for playing 1-18 consecutively rather than stopping midway. A ‘grip it and rip it’ mindset will lead to disappointment as there are many hidden hazards (yes I speak from experience!). Some of the fairways are deceptively narrow or have huge swathes of flanking rough hard to see from a distance. Lots of variety! Long par 5s to short par 3s and everything in between. Take care when walking between tees as its easy for first timers to get disoriented. At just $40 I felt it was great value and would definitely go back.

  • Great place to play golf. Course is a good challenge for all HC’s. Very picturesque, but if you walk it the last couple of holes uphill might get you. Very limited parking. Worth a look.
