Our Hole-by-Hole Guide provides a brief overview of each hole at Cooroy Golf Club, including key features, hazards, and general playing tips. Whether you are playing the course for the first time or looking to refine your strategy, this guide will help you navigate the layout with confidence.
Hole 1
Par 4
Blue ≈267m, White ≈266m, Red ≈266m
A short downhill Par 4 to start your round, this dogleg left has its’ tricks. An easy Par or a hard double with out of bounds on left all the way to the green and trees on right.
Long hitters can try for the green but most players should aim to hit their drive right centre of the fairway to give a clear view of the green for the second shot. The left corner of the dog-leg is guarded by a large, wide group of trees which can influence the second shot if you leave your drive short.
Medium green with moderate surface contours and drop off to right and rear making for a difficult recovery shot.

Hole 2
Par 4
Blue ≈358m, White ≈353m, Red ≈353m
Moderately tight tree lined fairway with a water hazard on left starting about 110m out from the green. Best advice is to keep it on the fairway and avoid the need to hit out of the trees.
A swale immediately in front of green gives the visual impression the approach is shorter than it actually is. A grass mound short of the swale on the right protects the approach to the green.
Medium green with moderate surface contours.

Hole 3
Par 4
Blue ≈347m, White ≈334m, Red ≈270m
Dogleg left with the fairway sloping severely left into trees hiding a water hazard all the way to the green. There is water immediately in front of the tee.
Best line off tee is high side of sloping fairway to generous landing area. Anything left will almost certainly restrict line of sight and approach to a green nestled in the natural meandering creek line.
Elevated approach to large green with moderate surface contour with back and right side falling away steeply to creek.

Hole 4
Par 3
Blue ≈176m, White ≈164m, Red ≈160m
Flat tree lined fairway with a meandering creek on right all the way to green and out of bounds right rear.
Best line off the tee is down the middle avoiding overhanging trees on both sides of the fairway.
Bunkers left, right and rear protect a medium size green with moderate contour sloping left to right and back to front.

Hole 5
Par 4
Blue ≈332m, White ≈326m, Red ≈292m
Dogleg right tree lined fairway with generous landing area sloping up to the green from elbow of dogleg. Out of bounds to left of the tee with a water hazard immediately in front and to right.
Best line is left of centre with a fade. Big hitters should take care if hitting straight as trees on left will come into play. Anything right will find trees.
A bunker sits immediately to the right of the green with a large bailout area left of the green.
The green has medium surface contours and sloping left to right.

Hole 6
Par 3
Blue ≈173m, White ≈160m, Red ≈155m
Elevated tee to a generous size green with severe surface contours sloping back to front and left to right.
Stray too far left or right across the water hazard dissecting fairway at mid point and you will find trees.
The fairway slopes gently up to green from the water hazard.

Hole 7
Par 3
Blue 166m, White 155m Red 135m
Up hill fairway with water hazard in front of tee. Overhanging tree branches left and right at water hazard can make it difficult to attack the pin. Pin placement determines best line to green.
Large tiered green nestled into the hillside and protected by grassed mound in front.
The green has severe surface contour sloping from back right to front left.

Hole 8
Par 4
Blue 269m, White 261m, Red 266m
Short tree lined par 4 downhill to raised green sloping away from tee,
Long drive with short iron approach avoiding downhill speed on green.
Out of bounds to right of green with large clump of dense trees at rear.

Hole 9
Par 4
Blue 307m, White 297m, Red 276m
Dog leg left across corner of dam with trees on right and two large dams on left.
Aim to land drive on right centre of fairway.Large raised green with medium surface contours sloping back to front so favour centre approach.
Stray too far left or right with shot into green and you might find water.

Hole 10
Par 3
Blue ≈ 164m, White ≈ 150m, Red ≈ 146m
A great test to begin your inward nine, this mid-range par 3 demands precision over power. The tee shot is daunting with water short and along the left hand side of the hole, and out of bounds comes into play with the railway line to the right.
Club choice will vary with wind. It’s tempting to be bold, and the putting surface is positioned to reward a centred and well-struck tee shot, as missing left or right leaves you with a delicate up-and-down with the green sloping towards the water. Par feels solid here, so focus on a smooth, controlled swing to hit the heart of the green and avoid pressure early on the back nine.

Hole 11
Par 5
Blue ≈ 482m, White ≈ 474m, Red ≈ 430m
The signature par 5 on the back nine gives players an opportunity to go low, but it’s no gimme. Out of bounds is along the left side, but a good drive down the generous fairway sets up a deciding second shot, where players must choose whether to advance aggressively or play safer to a preferred approach distance.
Longer hitters might flirt with reaching the putting surface in two, but most average golfers will take three (or more!) measured swings to hit the putting surface. The green sits receptive at the bottom of a downhill approach but demands accuracy. There is a small dam guarding the front right of the green and out of bounds behind the green so misjudging the distance either finds your ball in the water, leaves you taking a penalty drop or a tricky pitch. A par here is respectable; birdies are earned with thoughtful course management.

Hole 12
Par 3
Blue ≈ 139m, White ≈ 131m, Red ≈ 108m
A sharp, shorter par 3 that looks easy but blossoms with trouble for the errant shot. Club selection is crucial because while the hole doesn’t demand length, it does demand accuracy; especially when the wind picks up or where the pin is positioned on the green. A centred shot gives you the best chance at a two-putt, while anything long or short leaves a nerve-testing chip from the rough. A gently flowing creek guards the right hand side of the green.
The green has testing contours calling for respect on the putt. Stay calm and trust your swing! This hole often separates those who are dialled-in from those on the back nine who are still finding their rhythm.

Hole 13
Par 4
Blue ≈ 250m, White ≈ 244m, Red ≈ 230m
Cooroy Golf Clubs ‘signature’ short par 4 is a unique and beautiful hole which looks simple, but often leads to big scores. This hole features a 90 degree dogleg right to a green guarded by a water-lily filled dam short, and out of bounds long. This hole demands and rewards accuracy off the tee. Hitting the short grass gives you the best angle into the green, where a well-placed approach sets up a realistic birdie chance.
Misjudging your tee shot often leaves an awkward lie or blocked angle into the green. The putting surface is subtle – misread the break and you’ll watch the ball slip by the hole. Play smart off the tee and you’ll set yourself up for a strong par or even better.

Hole 14
Par 5
Blue ≈ 505m, White ≈ 498m, Red ≈ 461m
The longest par 5 on the course and a true three-shot hole, big hitters might be tempted to go for it in two, but patience usually pays. The fairway is wide yet guarded by subtle undulations and rough edges that can penalise over-ambition.
The ideal tee shot will find the top of the hill, and the second shot needs to be disciplined to avoid the water hazards along the right side of the fairway which come into play around 150 metres from the green. The narrow approach to the green means that a straight third shot onto the putting surface gives you the best look at birdie.
Greenside, the hummocks and well-contoured surface means sometimes your third shot leaves a tricky chip from the rough or a long lag putt – put it close and you’ll finish this big hole with a satisfying score. Par is a great result here

Hole 15
Par 3
Blue ≈ 158m, White ≈ 146m, Red ≈ 120m
This is one of Cooroy Golf Clubs trickier par 3s, playing downhill and carrying subtle challenges no matter what club you choose off the tee and what direction the wind is coming from. Water short of the green and a large bunker short and right can influence club selection, so pick your number wisely.
The green is receptive but can be unforgiving if you misjudge line or speed on the putt; there’s no easy chip if you miss long. A solid tee shot to the centre of the green sets up a realistic birdie putt, while a safe par here keeps momentum going on the back nine.

Hole 16
Par 5
Blue ≈ 465m, White ≈ 449m, Red ≈ 415m
Another par 5 where course management shines. A good tee ball down the tree lined fairway opens up an opportunity to go for the green in two, but only if positioned well. The ideal tee shot line is slightly left of centre to let the slope bring it back to the middle. Most players will opt for a controlled second and a thoughtful third to the generous green. Water left of the green comes into play if you are slightly off target.
The putting surface is generous yet contoured, so lag putts are common from approaches that land short. A steady play here almost always results in a solid score; patience through the hole’s length is rewarded.

Hole 17
Par 4
Blue ≈ 334m, White ≈ 322m, Red ≈ 284m
This dogleg par 4 still plays long enough to demand confidence off the tee, but makes you think about your playing strategy in order to avoid trouble and score well. Keeping the ball in play off the tee gives the opportunity to hit your second shot into to a well-guarded green. Shorter hitters may choose to lay up short of the green, to leave a delicate chip onto the putting surface.
Many well struck tee shots end up in the large sunken fairway section which demands a clever shot to get out of. The ideal tee shot line is right side of fairway, and not too long so to avoid the creek which meanders across the fairway.
The putting surface is generous and reasonably flat so if you can hit the green in regulation you will make scoring easier.

Hole 18
Par 5
Blue ≈ 467m, White ≈ 454m, Red ≈ 389m
This strong finishing par 5 hole demands a good tee shot through the narrow tree lined chute to get into good position for your second. The fairway invites length but guards it with rough and subtle slope that can catch the over-ambitious.
The small creek which cuts across the fairway will determine how you play your second shot. A thoughtful second shot sets up a third approach to an elevated an tiered green that often plays firm late in the day. Birdies are there for the taking if you’ve managed your hole well and bogeys (or worse) lurk for the errant shot.
A solid finish caps off the back nine and completes your round at Cooroy Golf Club in the Noosa hinterland.
