COOROY GOLF CLUB INC CODE OF CONDUCT
(Refer Clause 9 of Constitution, By Laws Clause 6 and R&A Rules of Golf)
Purpose
This Code of Conduct is based on the principle of respect for all members, visitors, guests and staff. It is to promote the safety and a spirit of cooperation, respect and good will within the Club and community.
Competition Play
- All players must comply with the Rules of Golf including etiquette.
- Where a player is considered to be in breach of the Rules of Golf, his/her marker must not sign the card until the alleged breach is clarified by the Club Captain.
- Where players are unsure how a particular rule applies to their situation, markers must seek the correct interpretation from the Club Captain before signing the card.
- All players must adhere to the Club’s Pace of Play Policy.
- Players knowingly breaching the Rules of Golf will be disqualified from the competition.
On-Course Behaviour Including Clubhouse and Surrounds
- Abusive or aggressive behaviour including physical assault will not be tolerated.
- Players experiencing dangerous or aggressive behaviour must not escalate the situation; instead report the incident to a member of the Committee or the Club Manager as soon as possible for action to be taken.
- Actions considered dangerous to the safety of players may result in instant suspension from the Golf Club, eg knowingly hitting up on players, throwing golf clubs, failing to call “fore”.
- Players must not approach staff with complaints, instructions or suggestions. Such complaints etc must be referred to the Club Manager.
Wilful Damage to the Golf Course
- All players are obliged to respect the golf course environment. Wilful damage to the golf course would be considered a breach of the members responsibility.
- Actions such as removing or damaging vegetation are not allowed.
- Players operating motorised carts on the course must at all times ensure that no damage is caused to the course and that no interference is caused to other players on the course. Players operating carts must not encroach on the designated no-cart areas unless medically exempt.
- Persons witnessing wilful damage must report the incident to a member of the Committee or the Club Manager.
Penalties for Breaching Code of Conduct
- Verbal warning by the Club Manager / Golf Captains.
- Disciplinary action by the Committee (clause 9 of the Constitution).
- First a verbal warning, second a written warning with 1 month suspension from clubhouse and course, third a written warning and suspension for 6 months, fourth and final warning means expulsion from the Club.
