WOMEN (Zone Pennants): Results for 9th April 2018

Division 2 teams played at Noosa today against each other. It was delightful to see such a sea of pink. It was always going to be an interesting match but unfortunately for Cooroy 1, Cooroy 2 proved to be the superior team.  It was a very pleasant day and the matches were played in good spirit.  The course was in excellent condition after the wet, and we were well looked after by Noosa.  We had 1 win and 1 square. Next round will be at Nambour on 16 April.

Cooroy 1 Vice-Captain – Margie Lucas

Cooroy 1 played Cooroy 2 at Noosa Golf Club today. With beautiful sunny skies overhead and fabulous couch underfoot, the teams fought hard (in a very friendly way) to bring home the bacon.  Cooroy 2 continued its winning streak and ended up with 4½ points after winning 3 matches and squaring 1.  Three of the five games went to the 18th hole, one to the 17th and one to the 15th.  What a close competition!!

Cooroy 2 Vice-Captain – Carmel Clark

Division 3 Today we hosted Division 3 at our home course.  After so many weeks of rain the course was still very heavy and to play the required 18 holes, we needed to play holes 1 and 3 twice as holes 2 and 16 were still unplayable.

Congratulations to our players and caddies.  In our match against Pacific Harbour we had 2 wins, 2 squared games and 1 loss and received 4 points taking us to equal first on the ladder with Pelican Waters.  There are only two more games left in the competition and our next game is at Pelican Waters.  We will be playing against them on their home course so it will be quite a challenge.

I can’t finish this report without thanking Chris Michael for doing all the paper work, Assunta Easton for doing the cards and collecting lunch money, Fay Wiggins for staying all day and helping with the morning tea and lunches, Patsy Fayne for doing the job of getting all the teams off on time, Wayne for his delicious sandwiches and our very hard working club captain Terri Cairns for the endless phone calls and organisation it required to get our game played today.

Division 3 Captain – Wendy Morse

  • Best value for money golf course on the Sunshine Coast. A really fun course layout, forces you to use multiple clubs off tees And have good course management. The grains are in great condition and are really receptive

  • Fantastic golf course! Really well setup with signage, sand buckets, and ball cleaners on most tees. This course is designed for playing 1-18 consecutively rather than stopping midway. A ‘grip it and rip it’ mindset will lead to disappointment as there are many hidden hazards (yes I speak from experience!). Some of the fairways are deceptively narrow or have huge swathes of flanking rough hard to see from a distance. Lots of variety! Long par 5s to short par 3s and everything in between. Take care when walking between tees as its easy for first timers to get disoriented. At just $40 I felt it was great value and would definitely go back.

  • Lovely course. Challenging enough to make it fun, but not too difficult for high handicappers

  • Great place to play golf. Course is a good challenge for all HC’s. Very picturesque, but if you walk it the last couple of holes uphill might get you. Very limited parking. Worth a look.
