Week ending 6th April 2013 (Vets)

HOST DAY PROGRAM

We have a busy Host Day program in April with a visit to Bribie Island on Monday 8th April 2013, a rescheduled visit to Mt Coolum on 15th April 2013 replacing the wash out earlier this year and then we host Caloundra at Cooroy on 22nd April 2013.

As a member club of the Sunshine Coast District Veteran Golfers Association, we provide the opportunity to play at some of the best courses on the Sunshine Coast at reasonable cost through our District Host Day Program– Caloundra, Gympie, Headland, Horton Park, Mt Coolum, Nambour, Pelican Waters, Peregian Springs, Tewantin Noosa and Tin Can Bay.   There are around 1,800 Veteran Golfers across our District.

Host days competitions are an enjoyable and important part of veteran golf as they provide an opportunity to meet members of other clubs in our District – so get involved, enjoy the golf and the company.

CAPTAIN’s CORNER

Ron Blount had a rather interesting expedition into the dam on the 14th on Wednesday.    Next time you see Ron ask him about it.

We are pleased to announce that Grant has secured a Host Day NTP sponsorship of 24 dozen logo golf balls for Cooroy Vets from a South Australian based Company “smallPRINT”.

Until Steve Howes is fully back on deck Grant will be organizing, co-coordinating and primary contact for home and away Host Day competitions.

  • Best value for money golf course on the Sunshine Coast. A really fun course layout, forces you to use multiple clubs off tees And have good course management. The grains are in great condition and are really receptive

  • Fantastic golf course! Really well setup with signage, sand buckets, and ball cleaners on most tees. This course is designed for playing 1-18 consecutively rather than stopping midway. A ‘grip it and rip it’ mindset will lead to disappointment as there are many hidden hazards (yes I speak from experience!). Some of the fairways are deceptively narrow or have huge swathes of flanking rough hard to see from a distance. Lots of variety! Long par 5s to short par 3s and everything in between. Take care when walking between tees as its easy for first timers to get disoriented. At just $40 I felt it was great value and would definitely go back.

  • Lovely course. Challenging enough to make it fun, but not too difficult for high handicappers

  • Great place to play golf. Course is a good challenge for all HC’s. Very picturesque, but if you walk it the last couple of holes uphill might get you. Very limited parking. Worth a look.
