CAPTAIN’s CORNER

The warm weather certainly produced some great scores on Wednesday. It was only a few weeks ago that the run down went to 31 points, this week we stopped at 38.

Doug Allisone (46 points) and Mike Smith (45 points) have both recently been taking golf lessons.  It seems to be paying off.  Doug amassed 19 of his total score on just 5 holes (9 to 13).   Also worthy of a mention was Ian Lumsden’s score of 42 points to take out the A-Grade.

BOOTS FOR BALI CHARITY DAY

Vet Dave Walder and wife Eileen have organised a charity golf day at Cooroy on Sunday, 19th October 2014, to raise money for their Boots for Bali project.

Since 2008 the project has fully equipped five village and two school soccer teams thanks to the Sunshine Coast Football Federation and individual local teams, two volleyball teams, furnished two kindergarten classrooms and a teachers’ room, paid four years lease on the kindergarten land, built a kitchen so no child goes hungry, provided safe play equipment, two complete sets of uniforms,  also ceiling fans, teachers’ chairs, paid last year’s annual water bill and helped to build and equip a Special Needs’ room for disabled children, so no child in the village is prevented from attending.

For more information check out the ‘promo’ posted on the What’s On eNoticeboard of the website.

  • Best value for money golf course on the Sunshine Coast. A really fun course layout, forces you to use multiple clubs off tees And have good course management. The grains are in great condition and are really receptive

  • Fantastic golf course! Really well setup with signage, sand buckets, and ball cleaners on most tees. This course is designed for playing 1-18 consecutively rather than stopping midway. A ‘grip it and rip it’ mindset will lead to disappointment as there are many hidden hazards (yes I speak from experience!). Some of the fairways are deceptively narrow or have huge swathes of flanking rough hard to see from a distance. Lots of variety! Long par 5s to short par 3s and everything in between. Take care when walking between tees as its easy for first timers to get disoriented. At just $40 I felt it was great value and would definitely go back.

  • Lovely course. Challenging enough to make it fun, but not too difficult for high handicappers

  • Great place to play golf. Course is a good challenge for all HC’s. Very picturesque, but if you walk it the last couple of holes uphill might get you. Very limited parking. Worth a look.
