Smallacombe Grant - after too much GuinnessVETS ON THE ROAD

Grant returns next week from his grand tour and apparently quite a changed man from spending too much time in Ireland and drinking too much Guinness (picture left – click to enlarge).

Warren Hay continues his tour of Russia – here are a few shots of the amazing ‘Church on Spilled Blood’ in beautiful St Petersburg Russia. The church is so named because it was built on the spot that Emperor Alexander II was mortally wounded on March 1st 1881. The interior is done entirely in mosaics and is breathtakingly beautiful. One of the main attractions in this city.

VISIT TO WOODFORD

It started out as a very cold (read freezing) and frosty morning but eventually warmed up just as we completed the round and enjoyed a BBQ lunch.  The course was in great condition with wide open fairways and large but challenging greens.

Rod Harper and Ed Krop took out the top 2 prizes for Cooroy.

Peter Piggott reportedly hit his best ever drive on the 8th Hole but unfortunately it lobbed onto the adjacent road and was last seen bouncing into the main street of Woodford.

Two of our lady Vets – Sue Piggott and Anne Kenzler – joined us for the visit and from all accounts enjoyed the day.

  • Best value for money golf course on the Sunshine Coast. A really fun course layout, forces you to use multiple clubs off tees And have good course management. The grains are in great condition and are really receptive

  • Fantastic golf course! Really well setup with signage, sand buckets, and ball cleaners on most tees. This course is designed for playing 1-18 consecutively rather than stopping midway. A ‘grip it and rip it’ mindset will lead to disappointment as there are many hidden hazards (yes I speak from experience!). Some of the fairways are deceptively narrow or have huge swathes of flanking rough hard to see from a distance. Lots of variety! Long par 5s to short par 3s and everything in between. Take care when walking between tees as its easy for first timers to get disoriented. At just $40 I felt it was great value and would definitely go back.

  • Lovely course. Challenging enough to make it fun, but not too difficult for high handicappers

  • Great place to play golf. Course is a good challenge for all HC’s. Very picturesque, but if you walk it the last couple of holes uphill might get you. Very limited parking. Worth a look.
