Golf News Update: 24th October 2024

Cooroy Golf Club Social Club played an 18-hole stroke with 4 mystery holes on Sunday 20th October.  By all accounts it proved to be an interesting day Ron Lewis had an adventure on Hole 12 and after losing a few balls over the fence and in the water had a score of 13.  Well done Ron we admire your tenacity on finishing the hole and don’t worry as we have all done the same thing. Murray Johns had his own adventure with a mishit that sailed towards an adjoining fairway passed thru a golf cart glanced off an unsuspecting fellow golfer and continued on into the trees.  Maybe we will all have to don protective armour if this is going to be the norm.

Clayton Moore after several months spell came back with flying colours to win the day with a score of 49net.  Eric the main man Kenzler also had a great score of 51net to take out 2nd place. Yvonne Troman doing it for the girls came in with 53net to take 3rd place.

Why not avoid the heat of the day and join us every Sunday between 6-6.30 all welcome .

9hole Ladies played a Stableford Competition on Tues 22nd October. 24 players enjoyed excellent weather.  Mary Miller was victorious with a fantastic score of 20pts, Eve Hunt followed closely with 19pts.  Not to be outdone Lynne Cafferky also came in with 19pts to take 3rd place.

All players beginner to advanced are all welcome to join the 9hole group every Tuesday with hit-off time 7:00 am.

18-hole Ladies played a Stableford on 24th October.  It was a very warm day but that didn’t deter the ladies as there were some exceptional scores.  Carmel Clark took 1st place with 39pts edging out Chris Michael also on 39pts.  Sandra Clemow coming into her own now she has joined the 18hole Ladies is improving with every game and took 3rd place with a great 38 pts.  Adri Milan managed to hold onto 4th place with 37 pts.

  • Best value for money golf course on the Sunshine Coast. A really fun course layout, forces you to use multiple clubs off tees And have good course management. The grains are in great condition and are really receptive

  • Fantastic golf course! Really well setup with signage, sand buckets, and ball cleaners on most tees. This course is designed for playing 1-18 consecutively rather than stopping midway. A ‘grip it and rip it’ mindset will lead to disappointment as there are many hidden hazards (yes I speak from experience!). Some of the fairways are deceptively narrow or have huge swathes of flanking rough hard to see from a distance. Lots of variety! Long par 5s to short par 3s and everything in between. Take care when walking between tees as its easy for first timers to get disoriented. At just $40 I felt it was great value and would definitely go back.

  • Lovely course. Challenging enough to make it fun, but not too difficult for high handicappers

  • Great place to play golf. Course is a good challenge for all HC’s. Very picturesque, but if you walk it the last couple of holes uphill might get you. Very limited parking. Worth a look.

  • I’ve played at this golf course several times. The par 4 course is a bit short but well-maintained, and the lady at the pro shop were very friendly.
