Golf News Update – 23rd August 2024

Cooroy Golf Club Social Club welcomes Hans Herle back from an extended overseas holiday.  Ethan Sellin had a great game and won the day with 34pts Derek Naughton also had 34pts to take 2nd place and Rowdy is again in the winners’ circle with 31pts nothing seems to stop Rowdy so his punishment is the reduction of his handicap to 2 no doubt there will be a few words to management about that issue.  Bradman prize goes to Murray Johns with just 12pts perhaps Murray wasn’t concentrating or he just wanted to win a prize for the day.

9 Hole Ladies had an enjoyable game appreciating the weather and the course looking immaculate. Only 11 players competed due to other players visiting Nambour.  Winner today was Beatrice Bruin with 16pts Jenny Tucker 2nd with 15pts and Susie Thompson with 14pts.  Don’t forget ladies all are welcome from beginners to the advanced our new start time is 7am on a Tuesday.

18 Hole Ladies played their 3rd round of Championships on 22nd Aug. The stroke competition for the day was won by Wendy O’Hare with an impressive 67 followed closely by a lady trying hard to reduce her handicap Maree Foster on 68 3rd for the day was the indomitable Eve Hunt with 71 nudging out Faye Wiggins also with 71.  Stay tuned for the winner of the Championships which will be decided on Tuesday 27th August good luck to all.

  • Best value for money golf course on the Sunshine Coast. A really fun course layout, forces you to use multiple clubs off tees And have good course management. The grains are in great condition and are really receptive

  • Fantastic golf course! Really well setup with signage, sand buckets, and ball cleaners on most tees. This course is designed for playing 1-18 consecutively rather than stopping midway. A ‘grip it and rip it’ mindset will lead to disappointment as there are many hidden hazards (yes I speak from experience!). Some of the fairways are deceptively narrow or have huge swathes of flanking rough hard to see from a distance. Lots of variety! Long par 5s to short par 3s and everything in between. Take care when walking between tees as its easy for first timers to get disoriented. At just $40 I felt it was great value and would definitely go back.

  • Great place to play golf. Course is a good challenge for all HC’s. Very picturesque,but if you walk it the last couple of holes uphill might get you. Very limited parking. Worth a look.

  • I’ve played at this golf course several times. The par 4 course is a bit short but well-maintained, and the lady at the pro shop were very friendly.
