Cooroy WOMEN’s GOLF Update

TUESDAY CLUB – Juanita Langford, Co-ordinator

Ironing DayWhat a fantastic year we have had so far. Our numbers are  up and are growing all the time. The atmosphere within the group is so positive and friendly with everyone contributing in so many different ways. Although the weather has been extremely hot everyone has participated to the best of their ability. No doubt now that we have started our later start time everyone will be happy to have a little sleep in.

I must mention my amazing committee of Susie Thompson, Eve Hunt, Leith Barr and Aileen Morton.  I don’t think I have ever been involved in such a willing and cohesive group.  Nothing is ever any trouble and my job is absolutely minimal.

Oncology UnitOur annual fundraiser for the Noosa Hospital Oncology Unit will be held on Tuesday 28th June and we would like to see as many women as possible play on that day to support this very worthy cause.  It will be a 9 Hole event with something special on every hole.  We have loads of prizes to give away and the raffle will be spectacular.  Tricia Bradford, a well known and talented artist, has donated a beautiful painting and of course we will have a huge party box with lots of goodies.  Look out for our girls early in June to get your raffle tickets.  I hope everyone including the men will participate in this very important project.

WOMEN’s GOLF – Wendy O’Hare, Golf Director

It has been very pleasing and promising to have regular fields of over 35 for our Thursday competitions and increased players on Saturdays.

2016 Womens PennantsBoth pennant teams are enjoying mixed success, but the team spirit has been wonderful.  We have received many positive comments regarding the team shirts which have been sponsored by the SUNDAY SOCIAL CLUB.

We have 11 players heading off to the Gold Coast to play in the 2016 Queensland Women’s Championships in May.  Good luck to all those players.

ContestantsOur next major event is our Open Day on Tuesday 7th June.

On Thursday 23rd June we will be having a special invitation day with the Tuesday Club and will play a 2 person Ambrose.

Wendy Morse and Margie Lucas were the winners of the 2016 4BBB Match Play competition against Assunta Easton and Lyn Blackmore.  It was a very close match finishing on the nineteenth hole.

Happy Golfing

  • Best value for money golf course on the Sunshine Coast. A really fun course layout, forces you to use multiple clubs off tees And have good course management. The grains are in great condition and are really receptive

  • Fantastic golf course! Really well setup with signage, sand buckets, and ball cleaners on most tees. This course is designed for playing 1-18 consecutively rather than stopping midway. A ‘grip it and rip it’ mindset will lead to disappointment as there are many hidden hazards (yes I speak from experience!). Some of the fairways are deceptively narrow or have huge swathes of flanking rough hard to see from a distance. Lots of variety! Long par 5s to short par 3s and everything in between. Take care when walking between tees as its easy for first timers to get disoriented. At just $40 I felt it was great value and would definitely go back.

  • Lovely course. Challenging enough to make it fun, but not too difficult for high handicappers

  • Great place to play golf. Course is a good challenge for all HC’s. Very picturesque, but if you walk it the last couple of holes uphill might get you. Very limited parking. Worth a look.

  • I’ve played at this golf course several times. The par 4 course is a bit short but well-maintained, and the lady at the pro shop were very friendly.
