VETS – NEWSLETTER week ending 4th April 2015

CAPTAIN’s CORNER

Well APRIL FOOLS DAY turned out to be a bit of a fizzer with wet weather causing the cancellation of the competition and the free meal.

The upside of this is that you may have been spared being made an APRIL FOOL of as we had a few things planned out on the course to catch the unwary.

This was also to be our “John Madill Toyota” Monthly Medal, so we will now have to reschedule this event.  One option is to perhaps play it on a spare Monday.   I will be asking all players for their thoughts on this idea when they register next week.

We did state that at least 2 out of the 10 items listed on our April Fool’s Day Flyer would definitely happen.  Even though we didn’t play, we were true to our word and can confirm the following:

1)    Bob Watson has come out of retirement & has announced his comeback to golf.

2)    Con Russell did not swear or throw a tantrum during his round.

3)    John Butler did not get annoyed by slow players.

This week’s game was also going to be the last for a very popular member in Charlie Adelberg.  It was unfortunate that we couldn’t give him a better send off, but we do wish Charlie all the best with his move to Bendigo.

It was great to see our Treasurer/Secretary Rod Booth back at the club.  Andrew Dick who has done a great job in Rod’s absence wasted no time in handing back the paperwork.  Andrew couldn’t hide his elation, and no doubt his golf game will now improve dramatically.

WHAT’s COMING UP

Coming up next week we have a Single Stableford that is being sponsored by members Rod Roemermann, Mike Miklenda, and Kevin Crundall.

On Monday the 13th of April we have our invitation day at Bribie Island.  We have 41 players who have nominated to make the trip – 9.30 Shotgun Start.
