Issue 2 - Important Update

This is the second Management Committee update as to what’s happening as there are some new developments that members should be informed about.
|
Firstly, you may be wondering what’s going on with the Management Committee and why it is necessary to call a Special General Meeting for the Members to decide the tenure of the current President, Jason Egan.
|
A Notice of Meeting was posted on the clubhouse noticeboard last Wednesday and can also be viewed on The Club's website 'Noticeboard'. The Special General Meeting will be held on Wednesday, 20th March at 2pm in clubhouse.
|
The reason for the meeting is that Jason Egan has lost the support of Management Committee members as the right person to take The Club forward in the role of President. The committee, as one, has indicated they cannot work with Jason because of a lack of respect shown toward committee members. This will be explained in more detail at the SGM.
|
Despite this diversion the Committees' work continues and the cooperation and rapport between other members of the Management Committee remains high.
|
However, on a more positive note.
GOVERNMENT GRANT for $80,000
|
Documents for the approved $80,000 grant from the State Government for projects involving the reconstruction/renovation of three greens have been signed. We have until September next year to finish the work. There will be disruption to play as we need some temporary greens during construction but it will be worth it.
|
A sub-committee comprising Wayne Patston, Cyril Trist, Todd McNamee and Dave Lyons has been tasked with putting together a plan and recommendation for approval by the Management Committee.
|

MARKETING and PROMOTION
The creek bank planting project with Noosa Landcare and SEQ Water has proven very successful with an article appearing in Noosa News helping promote the club and raise our profile in the community and demonstrating environmental responsibility.
|
|
However, we need a broader, more co-ordinated approach to marketing and promoting The Club. To this end the Management Committee is looking for a Marketing Coordinator to establish and implement a marketing strategy and plan for The Club. If you are interested speak to Club Secretary, Andrew Dick as soon a possible.

|
|
GEMLIFE
Lastly, Management and the Executive Committee have been talking to GemLife, which has an option on the Roberts Bros land bordering our 13th, 14th and 15th holes.
|
GemLife is a large Australia wide operator of Lifestyle Resorts for over 55's and they plan to develop a lifestyle resort on the land.
|
This is still a long way off with a lot of planning hurdles to overcome but the immediate benefit would be a new source of members.
|
The discussion with GemLife has been around swapping some of our land in exchange for them building a new clubhouse and providing other benefits including car parking, membership.
|
We will wait until GemLife actually have a concrete proposal before any further discussions can take place.
|
Any proposals/agreements will be subject to the agreement of Members and your Management Committee will not engage in any agreements/deals without Member consultation and approval.
|
|
This could be a game changer for Cooroy Golf Club.
|

Concern has been expressed by some members about the planting of lomandra on creek banks at Cooroy Golf Club. In Queensland, no landholder owns creeks, the water in the creeks nor creek banks. The Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy (DNR for short) has oversight of creeks. Cooroy Golf Club (CGC) has two creeks that link with Lake MacDonald. …

Ian Lumsden has kindly donated 10 m3 of rocks for the construction of a rock garden on the RHS of the 4th fairway. Ian had to source these rocks from elsewhere and deliver them to the Golf Club.
