Hi reader,
Toowoomba Trip 2019 03

VETS ON THE ROAD

The Vets committee and wives enjoyed a great couple of days in Toowoomba last week playing City Golf Course, sightseeing and enjoying the local cuisine and nightlife (ice cream on the footpath near mid night!).

No rain, red soil bunkers, soft greens, very long par 4's and too many trees - for some at least. There is little that can be said about the scores but Grant won the chocolates.

VOLUNTEER WORKING BEE

There will be a volunteer working bee on Monday, 8th April to clear underbrush on the left side of the 6th and 7th holes. This will include cutting branches that impact the line of sight from the tee to the 7th green.

Meet at the shed at 7:30 am.

HOST DAY VISIT to NAMBOUR

The nomination sheet for the visit to Nambour on Monday, 29th April 2019 is available in the clubhouse. Nominations close on 24th April 2019.

Shotgun start: 8:00 am

Weather Rock

WEDNESDAY WRAP

A wet start to the day and it didn't get any better until the last of the field of hardy (some said foolhardy) players returned to the club house then the sun came out for 5 minutes and it rained again. The weather rock was very wet!

The highlight of the day was an excellent 62 by Jim (Prendy) Prendergast in difficult conditions to take out the C Grade Monthly Medal.

Terry Magill took out A Grade with 70 from Brian Clemow with 71 on count back from Ray Nolan.

Terry McCulloch shot 72 to claim B Grade on count back from David Attrill. Ironically Terry had just purchased another apple/black Vets logo shirt because he didn't think he would ever win a monthly medal shirt.

We had a four way tie for the Kevin Tonkin Best Gross - Bob Noble, Greg Michael, Ray Nolan and Terry Magill.

Paul O’Hare needs a haircut so he put in a big effort to win the Sweeney Todd NTP on the 3rd but was pipped by Andre Smit. Maybe they can come to some arrangement!

Next Wednesday is Stableford sponsored by 'The Golf Tragics' - time start from 6:30am.

Grant is taking a break for the next two weeks so Jimmy (aka Irish) Henderson will be in charge. Jim's a hard man but fair so everyone will need to be on their best behaviour.
