VETS ON THE ROAD
Andrew Dick and wife Gabi are travelling through Portugal and Spain and caught up with past Vets Vice Captain, Terry Thomson and wife Sue (picture), shortly to settle permanently in Spain. Andrew did find time for a game of golf on a course with very green fairways but otherwise very dry and brown. A very brief comment from Andrew on how well he played needs no further explanation!

Vets sponsors ‘The Bush Boys' with partners and friends have just returned from a most successful 4 Day golfing trip to Tenterfield NSW. From all accounts each of the 21 involved had a great time with perfect weather conditions and recent rains hanging off until their day of departure. In picture 1 below - Bill Galvin, Barb Johnstone and Peter Reilly.
And in the US, Terry Lyons, Greg and Chris Michael watched a ball game at the famous Yankee Stadium. Unfortunately, Terry’s wife Anne couldn’t attend as jaywalking is a serious offense in New York. Terry says Anne should get out in a few days!

WEDNESDAY
The Red Course Day sponsored by the 'Red October Team' (Paul O'Hare, Terry Lyons, Terry Magill, Greg Michael, Dale Rickard) proved a little more challenging than expected. And some groups needed to remind themselves - red course means red tees not white - force of habit!
Scores from the early groups didn’t excite but as the day progressed the later groups seem to get their heads around playing off the MEN’s Red Tees and scores improved with the best being a 46 by Geoff Cowan, 41 by Ray Lally and 41 by Ray Hand.
This year the 'Red October Team' nominated the special contest as birdies on red flag holes - it was always going to be difficult to top last years’ submarine in the 14th hole dam. However, to make it more interesting this special contest wasn’t disclosed to players before tee off. At one stage Geoff Edwards (12th) looked like collecting the 24 golf balls on offer but as the day played out Geoff had to settle for sharing with Tony Bernhagen (1st and 14th) and Peter Buchbach (5th).
Great to see Terry Hymas back on the course and turning in a very good 39 and two NTPs. Lance Horn made a welcome return after a stint in hospital with pneumonia. Kevin Olsen is on the road to recovery but from all accounts a little too keen to get back on the golf course - take it easy Kev golf isn’t going away any time soon.
