2018 10 03 - Large Python (c)

WEDNESDAY

There is usually plenty of wild life around the course and Wednesday was no different, but with a little added drama. Our President, Graham Laing, spotted a large python near water on the course so he decided to warn the women playing a Single Matchplay final behind his group. Being a little far away, Graham left his buggy to walk closer so they could hear him. Unfortunately, Graham's buggy took fright and promptly rolled into the water requiring a hasty, but wet retrieval. How could Graham's wife doubt such a plausible explanation for the state of his golf clothes!

Highlights of the day, apart from the wild life adventure: A 64 by Tony Bernhagen and a similar result for Nick Kostalas. Steve Howes wasn't far behind with 65, continuing his good form. Steve recently vowed that once his handicap reached 36 he'd retire. Ever since then his handicap has headed the other way. In his current form Steve, will be playing for another 10 years!

Next Wednesday (time start from 6:30am) is a Red Course Day sponsored by the "Red October Team" (Paul O'Hare, Terry Lyons, Terry Magill, Greg Michael, Dale Rickard). All play is off the Men's Red Tees with Slope Rating of 108, handicaps adjusted accordingly. Be aware that some par 5's will become par 4's.

As most of the 'Red October Team' is away Dale (Rick) has been given the honour of presenting and speaking on behalf of the sponsors but, with a caveat; Rick is restricted to speaking for no more than 10 seconds and no prostate cancer stories or jokes.
