GEMLIFE UPDATE

The appeal was heard in late July 2023.

At the hearing on 1st August, the matter was adjourned to allow time for the Appellant (GemLife) to consider and make a minor change application, and for the Department for State Infrastructure to confirm its position.

On 7th September, GemLife filed an Application in Pending Proceeding seeking to make a minor change to the proposed development. Fourteen affidavits were filed in relation to the proposed minor change.

Subsequently, Noosa Council raised further queries for GemLife to consider. GemLife undertook work in relation to the proposed footpath along the western side of Myall Street and provided a further four affidavits in that regard.

Two further affidavits have also been prepared.

On 17th October 2023, the Department advised that it would not oppose the GemLife minor change application.

On 23rd October 2023 the Council and CARA advised that they will not oppose the GemLife minor change application.

We anticipate that the next steps will include the minor change application being heard, preparation for the further hearing, and hearing the balance of the appeal. The minor change application filed on 7th September will be heard on 9th November 2023.

The matters raised do not affect the golf course design, golf clubhouse or GemLife obligations to Cooroy Golf Club.

We have executed the Myall Street Agreement (MSA) with GemLife. If you are interested in reading the MSA click the button below. It is a large document so it may take some time to download. The MSA starts at page 108.

You can view other documents available on the appeal website by clicking the button below.

Based on the agreement executed, the value of GemLife obligations to the Club is estimated at ~$16 m, an increase on the previous $12 m.

TEE UP FOR CANCER CHARITY DAY

On Thursday 19th October 2023 the Cooroy women golfers held their annual charity golf day, Tee Up for Cancer. Funds raised on this day go towards breast cancer research and breast cancer trials. The golf course, clubhouse and players were a sea of pink!

The day was extremely well supported with a field of 82 players. Winners of the day were Leith Barr and Ian McInnes.

A day such as this would not be possible without the support of all our sponsors, Cooroy Golf Club and all our members who worked so hard. An amount of $2,700 was raised including a very generous donation of $500 from the Sunday Social Club golfers.

Thank you to everyone for your support.
