WEDNESDAY
Most players seemed to enjoy the “SIXES” concept of the 2 Man Ambrose sponsored by 'The Vets' as it requires a bit more use of the brain in ensuring that all of the colours and tee shots are used.
|
It was a close contest with Greg Michael and Terry Lyons 61.25 taking the main prize.

SIMPLY DEALING WITH YELLOW STAKES
Simply put, a yellow hazard is a “regular” water hazard, and you have two options to play.
|
A red hazard is a “lateral” water hazard and comes with four options to play your ball.
|
Regular Water Hazard (Yellow)
|
- Play again from the previous spot.
- Drop the ball behind the hazard, in a straight line provided the spot at
which the ball last crossed the hazard remains directly between the dropping point and the hole.
At Cooroy, one area that confuses players is the YELLOW staked water hazard in front of the 13th green. If your ball crosses the hazard and lands on the green, and then rolls back into the water, you must line up the hole with the place where the ball last entered the hazard and play from there. This will see you playing from some unusual places at times. You could be on the 14th tee; you could be back on the 13th fairway.
|
Lateral Water Hazard (Red)
|
- Option 1 from above – Play your ball from the previous spot.
- Option 2 from above – Drop the ball behind the hazard, in a straight line provided the spot at which the ball last crossed the hazard
remains directly between the dropping point and the hole.
- Drop the ball two club lengths from the ball’s entry point to the
hazard, not nearer the hole.
- Drop the ball two club lengths from the opposite side of the hazard
and no closer to the hole.
Of course, if your ball is in the hazard and is playable, this option is also available to you.
|
You cannot hit a provisional ball when the last time anyone sighted your ball it crossed a hazard area. You have two options. Play the ball again under a 1 shot penalty or drop it where you last saw it cross the hazard. You can, however, hit a provisional ball if you think your ball may be out of bounds.
