Hi reader,
2022 09 Intern v Aussie Event

WEDNESDAY

Our first shotgun start in quite a while was a great success with players enjoying fun and camaraderie in the clubhouse after the International All-Stars versus Aussies team challenge. Grant needed to use an air raid siren to get everyone's attention for the presentation.

A big thanks to Grant for his efforts for a well organised day. After a smooth registration process and 8:00am shotgun start, we had things wrapped up by 1:30pm notwithstanding a hiccup scanning score cards which just added to the suspense as team Captains watched on nervously as players recorded their scores.

Congratulations to the International All-Stars team and captain Jimmy Henderson. The victory could not have been more clear cut with the team 10 best scores averaging nearly 40 points.

The result:
International All Stars – 397 points
True Blue Aussies – 374 points
The Australian attack – 367 points

There were of course excuses trotted out by the losing captains. Grant's excuse was that his team vice captain, Con Russell, in charge of sledging and putting other teams off their game, wasn't able to play and this disrupted team tactics. Dave complained that the Internationals had more players than the Aussie teams but must have had a premonition about the result as he forgot to bring in the perpetual trophy (photo above). At least Dave had the consolation of placing 3rd in the B Grade Stableford competition.

The good scores flowed through to the Single Stableford event with visitor, Ron Roelofs, posting an impressive 46 to win C Grade. Needless to say Ron really enjoyed the course and will be back. Jack Klinkert continued his good start to playing with the Vets to finish runner up on 43 from Matt Saunders 42. Matt is proving there is no truth to the suggestion that your golf suffers when you become men's co-captain.

Consistent Kerry Davies scored 41 to win A Grade from Gary Menyweather 39 and Bob (I never win a lucky draw) Noble 38.

Michael Low won B Grade with 41 from Alex Kologaras 38 and Dave Lyons 37.
Matrty's Hut Burger & Beer

NEXT WEDNESDAY

There is no need to bring a cut lunch next week as there will be a compulsory stop at Marty's Hut for a free 'Jimmy's Famous Burger and Beer'.

It is a Monthly Medal stroke competition.

MEMBERS

Welcome to new members Allan Sutton and Wayne Page.

Unfortunately, Peter Crosby, suffered a fall on the course on Wednesday leaving Peter with a broken foot and out of golf for several weeks. We wish him a speedy recovery. There was an unconfirmed report that some opposition players took the team challenge too seriously and pushed him!
