WEDNESDAY

Unfortunately, a major internet problem disrupted the competition on Wednesday necessitating a change from a much anticipated 2 Man Aggregate Stableford to a Single Stableford but we got through it and there were some good scores. We were eventually able to send results to Golflink and post prizes to member House Accounts.

Andre Smit produced the best score of the day - 43 - to win B Grade from Don (Dangerous) Clelland 40 and visitor Frank Wilson 39.

New member, Jack Klinkert, shot 40 to take C Grade from Steve Paice 39 and Ron Blount 38.

Mike (Superman) Kent shot the next best score of the day, 42, to win A Grade from Studley Martin 39 and Steve Jackson 38.

We play our annual Aussies vs International All Stars on Wednesday, 21st September. It is an 8:00 am shotgun start.

The respective captains select teams from members playing on the day according to heritage.
  • International All-Stars: Jim Henderson (Captain). Player or one parent born overseas.
  • Australian Attack: Grant Smallacombe (Captain). All Aussie heritage.
  • True Blue Aussie: Dave Lyons (Captain) All Aussie heritage.
The winning Captain has their name inscribed on a coveted Pewter Mug.

Offers of encouragement to play in a particular team are considered a legitimate recruiting tactic by team captains. There is a lot to play for! The losing captains must keep the coveted Pewter Mug full of beer for the winning captain for the afternoon of the competition.

The True Blue Aussies had a win last year after a long drought and Dave is keen to keep the momentum going this year but, the biggest inducement is the free beer for the afternoon!

Wear something representing your heritage.

2022 VETS SINGLE MATCHPLAY CHAMPIONSHIP

Mark Kelly added to his trophy cabinet by taking out the final against Mark Woolway. Congratulations to both players.

The new 6th bridge is open with Bob Read, Grant Smallacombe and Warren Smith fittingly the first to make the crossing. A great effort by all volunteers involved in the project and Warren.

The remaining work will see the concrete cart path extended up the hill to the 6th tee.
