Week ending 23rd July 2022

Hi reader,

WEDNESDAY

Unfortunately the weather won again with today's competition cancelled.

We have altered next weeks’ time sheet from a shotgun start to a time start.

Apologies for the late change but part of the reason for doing so is because of the growing number of flu and COVID cases, and our wish to keep our players as safe as possible.

When booking your time slots please use a bit of common sense and pick a time that you would normally play rather than pinching other groups time slots.

Next weeks game will now be a Single Stableford and the 1st round of the “Old Course Challenge”.

Inaugurated in 2017 the Old Course Challenge commemorates the efforts of foundation members Ed Otto and Lionel Willett, in establishing Cooroy Vets in 1985.

Played over two rounds in conjunction with an 18-hole Single Stableford, players separately record score for 18 holes and the 9 old course holes. The old course holes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 16, 17 and 18 are highlighted on a special scorecard issued on the day.

Scores for the 9 old course holes are aggregated for the two rounds with the highest ‘all in’ score deciding the overall winner.

There are separate prizes for each round and a perpetual framed trophy for the aggregate winner. Jim Henderson, a past winner, pictured with Lionel Willett and the perpetual trophy.

HOST DAY PROGRAM

The proposed visit by Pelican Waters Vets on August 1 has been cancelled. We look forward to visiting and hosting them next year.

We visit Caloundra on Friday 12th August. We are allowed 32 players from 8:00 to 10:00 timed start only. If these 32 spots are filled put you name in as a reserve at the bottom of the sheet, as we will try to get you in.

If you have to cancel do not ring the Caloundra Pro Shop as your spot will be filled by a Caloundra player. Contact Dave Lyons 0419722104 (text preferred) instead, so a reserve from Cooroy can take your place.
