HOST DAY

On Monday 11th July we hosted a small field from Tin Can Bay. The day was changed to a timed start as agreed with Management when numbers are so low.

All had a good day including Tin Can Bay players who have motivated their Captain to reschedule our visit to TCB, which was washed out earlier in the year.

One of their players had 41 points winning Div 1, followed by Wayne Carty (37) and Peter Crosby (36). Cooroy dominated Div 2 – David Attrill (39 plus an NTP), Ron Blount (34 c/b) and Geoff Currie (34)

First to third prizes in both Divisions were $50, $30 and $20 to go to member accounts. The run down went to 31.

We are in contact with Pelican Waters and have offered them a return visit to Cooroy on August 1, as their course is not yet modified to 18 holes. This day is not official yet.

We visit Caloundra on Friday 12th August. The nomination sheet will be available in the clubhouse next week. It is a time start from 8:00am through 11. Hire will be booked automatically based on the designation on the nomination form.

We visit Maroochy River on Monday 22nd August. When details are available, nomination sheets will be put in the clubhouse.

WAKE - GRAEME 'Ossie' OSBORNE

Osborne Graeme
Jan Osborne, Ossie's wife, has advised that there will be a wake for Ossie at the Sunshine Beach Surf Club on Sunday, 7th August 2022 at 10:00am.

Members of Cooroy Golf Club and Cooroy Veterans' Golf Club and partners are invited to attend.

There will be finger food and free drinks. Jan says Ossie is paying he just doesn't know it.

Please let Michael Loe know by 1st August 2022 if you will be attending on 0411 878 341 or michaelloe8@gmail.com for catering purposes. It would be nice to see a good roll up of Vets wearing our apple green/black club shirt.

If you have any stories about Ossie, true or otherwise, please bring them along.

Ossie claimed many victories including three Victorian State titles early in his career, stopped racing in 1974 and returned 35 years later at the age of 70 and then continued to compete in historic events well into his 70's. Picture - Ossie on his Manx Norton.

Whenever you ask about the dangers of racing a motor bike at his age the answer was 'For me, it’s never been a matter of fear or worry, I just look forward to the next ride and the next experience tomorrow' and, 'When people ask me why I still race I tell them, I do it because I can.'
