Week ending 2nd July 2022

Hi reader,

WEDNESDAY

'The Territorians' sponsored the Stableford event and exercised their prerogative to decide play was off the blue markers. Judging by the results it was a good decision as we had some of our best scores in quite a while.

Dangerous Don Clelland carded 45 points to take C Grade from another hot score of 39 by Con Russell. Vice Captain, Jim Henderson took 3rd place with 37.

Gary Menyweather had a very good day scoring 41 to take A Grade, Eagled the 16th and took out the NTP on the 3rd. Gary will have quite a few prizes to collect. Mike Rumford picked up 2nd place with 38 from Peter Crosby in 3rd place with 36.

Ray Hand carded 37 to take B Grade from Terry Wilson 36 and Wayne Carty 36.

IMPORTANT Unfortunately, we need to again raise the issue of checking cards as too many mistakes are occurring. Remember you are responsible for agreeing your score with your marker before you scan your card.

The most common error is not checking that your scanned score (the system reads the X marked on the card to determine your score for the hole) matches the score agreed with your marker - that is, your hand written score. If it doesn't match you need to correct any discrepancies via the kiosk screen AND SAVE THE CHANGES. Players are making changes but then walking away from the screen without clicking the save button.

MIKE MIKLENDA

Many of you will know Mike Miklenda as one of our early starters, winter and summer, and as a stalwart member of both The Vets and Cooroy Golf Club for many years. Mike was involved in the early days of developing the course.

Mike is a Gold Member of Cooroy Veterans' Golf Club and proudly wears the Gold Member embroidered gold shirt. Gold Membership is awarded for more than 25 years of continuous membership of The Vets. Mike is pictured with another Vets Gold Member, John Stewart, and a young-ish Matt Saunders.

At 93 years young, Mike has decided that seeing the world by cruise ship is more suited to his age and lifestyle so has played his last game of golf.

We wish Mike all the best and look forward to catching up regularly in the future.
