Week ending 25th June 2022

Hi reader,

COVID

If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID or have tested positive please do not visit the club as this latest variant seems to spread very easily.

WEDNESDAY

Thanks to 'We Stand Tall' (aka Bruce Dooley & Dave Lyons) for sponsorship of the once a year Multiplier Stableford. Most players seemed to enjoy the challenge although the system did the final calculations.

Paul O'Hare and Terry Magill had the right strategy, combining brilliantly to score 84 and take the main prize from Matt Saunders and Bruce Otto 75.

Paul also picked up the NTP on the 3rd.

HOST DAY PROGRAM

Cooroy sent eight players - four in two divisions for the District Matchplay at Gympie on 16th June. Our Division 1 players didn’t do as well as those in Division 2 who had an awesome day according to Jack Timm who responded back – “thanks for playing me today it was awesome, even more so when our Div 2 side made it to a playoff for second that went four holes but ended up third”. They came third of 11 teams repeating what was done the previous year – well done.

There must be something in the water at Nambour because they took out both Division 1 and Division 2 titles that day, along with winning the Team Challenge at Headland earlier in the month.

Our field of 20 players for the host day visit to Nambour on 20th June was shortened by COVID related issues and lots of golf (Cooroy Open). Players enjoyed the fine weather, but not so much the golf though. Nambour took out the two major prizes in two Divisions. Best score of the day being 41 points.

Two of our players Dave Lyons (36) and Mat McQueen (34) collected balls in the run down and we got three NTP’s (Andy Stewart, Mike Kent, Dave Lyons). We did collect the major prize in the raffles with Andrew Carson happy to spend the $30 voucher he received.

Interesting they had the ball run down to 34 on a countback in Division 1 and to 32 in Division 2.

Tin Can Bay Vets are due to visit Cooroy on 11th July. The nomination sheet in the Clubhouse.
