VALE KELVIN BRITTAIN

It is with great sadness that we advise the passing of Kelvin Brittain.

Many of you will remember Kelvin from his days serving drinks behind the bar with a smile and in more recent times playing with the Vets. Kelvin was an accomplished golfer but, unfortunately, in recent times, health issues prevented him playing the game he loved,

A respected, long time member of Cooroy Golf Club, Kelvin made a significant contribution through service on sub-committees and was always willing to assist when asked. He was heavily involved in the implementation of the Simple Golf System and the MEX Maintenance System for the club.

Kelvin enjoyed all forms of motorsport racing enduro bikes in his younger days and then his love of speed led him to drag racing motorbikes for 15 years where he had considerable success.

His many friends at Cooroy Golf Club will miss him.

Our condolences to wife Judy, family, and friends.

WEDNESDAY

Strict rules were laid down for the annual Internationals vs. Aussie challenge with the threat of penalties.

Jim Henderson was banned from shaking hands with any of the International All-Star players pregame as this could be seen as passing on Irish Luck and is well outside the rules.

The Aussie Attack had a secret weapon in Con Russell who had a free license to make as much noise as he could. Con also had the right to brag about past performances of the team but was strangely quiet on the day.

To save any embarrassment, the True Blue Aussies were allowed to concede defeat before the game began.

The result was a resounding victory by the International All-Stars. Jimmy Henderson was lucky he wasn't sanctioned as there were suspicions he had ignored the rules and quietly shaken hands with team members pregame to pass on some Irish luck.

International All Stars 393 points.
True Blue Aussies 376 points.
Aussie Attack 374 points.

The Internationals have a record of scoring big. This year their best 10
players averaged 39.3 points, in 2016 averaged 40 points, in 2017 averaged
40.8 points, and in 2022 averaged 39.7 points. The winning team members will each receive a golf ball:

Jim Henderson (Captain), Rudy Agerbeek, Andrew Aves, Peter Brown, John Butler, Dave Chapman, Derek Clayton, Joe Daniels, Tony Foster, Richard Gibson, Kent Griffiths, John Hawkins, Lance Horn, Peter Jeucken, Eric Kensler, Mike Kent, Alex Kologaras, Brett LeMoy, Ian Lumsden, Terry Lyons, Terry Magill, Laurie Mead, Mike O'Donnell, Steve Paice, Jim Prendergast, Dale Rickard, Jack Timm, Tony Watson, John Weursching

The Single Stableford competition winners were:

A Grade - Brett LeMoy 41
B Grade - Garry Stephens 41
C Grade - Mike O'Donnell 42

Thanks to 'The Shankers' (aka Grant Smallacombe and Kevin Crundall) for sponsoring the event.
