WEDNESDAY

A field of 94 enjoyed great weather for a 4-Man Ambrose sponsored by the Vets.

The Bernhagen Team of Tony, Doug Pearce, Tony Foster, and Jack Timm got it all together to take first place with 52.62. Word has it that Tony Bernhagen was in such good form with the putter that all the team needed to do was put the ball on the green and it was good as in the hole.

Runner-up went to the Aves Team of Andrew, Paul Williams, Tont Atkins, and visitor, T Shaw with 53.17.

Third Place went to the Clemow Team of Brian, Scott Bennett, Tom Williams, and Robert Rohweder with 53.5

NEXT WEEK:

Next Wednesday, 30th August 2023, is Round 1 of the 2023 Vets Championship.

The Vets Championship is the culmination of our golf year and decides the overall club champion and grade champions.

Handicap Champion: Contested over 36 holes of stroke play, the player with the lowest 'all in' net score decides the Handicap Champion.

Grade Champions: Contested over 36 holes of stroke play, the player with the lowest gross score decides the Champion in each grade.

To be eligible a member must have played in at least six 18-hole single events run under the auspices of Cooroy Veterans' Golf Club at Cooroy Golf Course during the event year. A member must play three of the six events in the Cooroy Vets weekly Wednesday competition.

Players not eligible for the championship are welcome to play and compete for daily prizes.

A BIT OF HUMOUR

The only problem with golf is that the slow people are always in front of you and the fast people always end up behind you.

Coach, what is wrong with my game? One day a player asked his coach: "What is going wrong with my game?" "You're standing too close to the ball after you've hit it."

Greens OK?: A guy on vacation finishes his round and goes into the clubhouse. The head pro says, “did you have a good time out there?” The man replied, “fabulous, thank you.” “You’re welcome,” said the pro. “How did you find the greens?” Said the man: “Easy. I just walked to the end of the fairways and there they were."

Did you know this About Scottish People: Do you know why there are 18 holes on a golf course? Because that's how long it took the Scotts who invented the game to finish their bottle of whiskey!

Drowning your sorrows: After a particularly poor round, a golfer spotted a lake as he walked despondently up the 18th. He looked at his caddie and said, “I’ve played so badly all day, I think I’m going to drown myself in that lake.” The caddie, quick as a flash, replied, “I’m not sure you could keep your head down that long.”
