WEDNESDAY

A great effort by Warren and his staff provided us with a fun and challenging day for the annual Greens staff versus the Vets Challenge - thank you. Let's call it a draw this year!

The course is in great shape.

There was a noisy distraction on the 18th tee with a “cement mixer” running with stones in it but this didn’t worry Bob 'the builder' Read as he is used to that sound and played one of his best tee shots for the day.

Captain Grant hit his tee shot from the 16th onto the 17th green but when he got there the green was littered with the same colour white balls!

The lengthened tee on the 15th proved a difficult task for most with the cunning players laying up.

Richard Gibson’s 7 iron Tee Shot on the 11th long drive was a beauty and he may consider using this tactic more often.

Visitor, Frank Wilson, recorded the best score of the day with 43 to win B Grade. Perhaps Frank wasn't scarred by the experience of previous challenges. Terry Wilson 35 finished runner-up with John Cairns 33 and Bruce Wilshire 32 in 3rd and 4th place.

Greg Michael took out A Grade with 36 from Geoff Pembroke 35, Russ Rylance 33, and Gary Menyweather 32.

Garrry Webster rose to the challenge with 38 to take C Grade from Joe Daniels 38, Matt (you can check out but you can never leave) Saunders 34, and Anthony Jones 34.

WHAT's COMING UP

Next Wednesday is a Single Stableford.

The following week is also a Stableford but off the blue tees.

HOST DAY PROGRAM

There is quite a bit of Host Day activity coming up.

On Thursday, 15th June we have four players in B Grade representing Cooroy Vets in the District Matchplay Championship at Gympie. We couldn’t get enough A graders interested. It will be a big field. Good luck Mat McQueen, Terry Wilson, Peter Palmer, and Anthony Jones.

Another 22 players will be visiting Nambour on Monday, 19th June. It will be a shotgun start at 8:00.

After that, our next host day will be our visit to Peregian Springs on Monday, July 31. Always a good day there.

We have the District Vets Championship at Tin Can Bay on Wednesday, 19th July. It will be a 9:30 am shotgun start. The cost is $40 for walkers and $59 if you share a cart. Lunch is included. You can take your own cart to this event. There will be over $1500 worth of raffle prizes as well as generous prizes for the winners plus NTP’s. If interested in playing, contact Dave Lyons at 0419722104. We are allowed up to 10 players.

COOROY GOLF CLUB - MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL

This a reminder that June club membership renewals are due by the end of the month.
