Hi reader,

WEDNESDAY

The clubhouse proved a warm retreat after a chilly start to the day for a field of 83 playing in a Stableford sponsored by 'AAAC' (aka Brett LeMoy, Kerry Davies, Don Esposito, Bronco Price).

A Grade required a countback with Peter Brown 36 taking the prize from Bob Noble followed by Keith Harkins 35 and Andy Stewart 34.

B Grade also required a countback with Tony Watson 36 winning from Graham Laing. Bruce McLean 35 finished 3rd with Terry Wilson 35 in 4th place.

Greg Topping took C Grade outright with 36 from Tony Atkins 35, Dave Chapman 35, and David Fletcher 33.

Pace of Play

It is unfortunate, but every now and then we need to remind players about the PACE of PLAY. This is a very important topic as we like to see everyone competing to enjoy the day.

You should be keeping an eye on the group in front and make sure you don't fall too far behind. If you are falling behind you are probably holding up play. You have two options: SPEED UP or let the group behind PLAY THROUGH. This is just a courtesy.

Most of our players are pretty good but if you do have someone in your group holding up play there is nothing wrong with you suggesting (in a nice way) for them to improve their pace.

The new card reading system provides us with 'pace of play' stats. The time your round takes is taken from your starting time until the first player in your group scans their card.

Card Scanning

We do check your cards and are still finding errors.

Players are still not correcting errors when scanning their cards. We have been very lenient in the past and the committee has made corrections on behalf of the player to avoid disqualifying them.

Examples are:
If you had a score of 36 points and you scan your card and it reads you had 37 points it is up to you to edit this and make the correction. Failure to do this will see you being disqualified for posting a score higher than your actual score.

If you had a score of 36 points and you scan your card and it reads that you had 35 points it is up to you to edit this and make any corrections. Failure to do this will result in your score of 35 points standing. You cannot be disqualified because you posted a score less than that of your actual score.

If you have scanned your card and saved it you cannot rescan it. You should then speak to a committee member as they can do the adjustment on your behalf.

WHAT's COMING UP

Next Wednesday, 17th May, we play a 2-Man Ambrose. The system automatically pairs players 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 in your group. Please check the timesheet to ensure that you have a playing partner.

VALE

It is with sadness that we advise the passing of John O'Donoghue.

John played golf with the Vets until his health no longer allowed it, and always enjoyed a laugh with his fellow golfers. He will be missed by all who knew him as a good friend.

HOST DAY PROGRAM

Tee allocations for the visit to Mt Coolum on Monday, 15th May are available on our website - see the link below. It is an 8:00 am shotgun start. If you are nominated but can't make it please ensure you let Dave Lyons (0419722104) know as quickly as possible.

The nomination sheet for hosting Nambour on Monday, 22nd May is still available in the clubhouse. Nominations close on Wednesday, 17th May.

We have received an invitation sheet from Gympie Golf Club for eight players to compete in the District Teams Match Play on June 15. There will be two teams of four, A and B Grade. A Grade will be 0-15 based on a 117 slope rating and B Grade 16-30 based on a 117 slope rating. The cost for the day is $60 including a cart and lunch. There will be NO walkers. Those who played in past years enjoyed the day. If you want to play this year contact Host Day Captain, Dave Lyons on 0419722104.
What the golf ball of the future might look like!
