MEMBERSHIP
Grant presented John Round with his Vets Gold Member shirt recognising 25 years of playing membership of Cooroy Vets. Given you must be over 55 to join the Vets, 25 years is quite an achievement.
|
John is currently recovering from medical issues but says he will be back playing golf by the end of the year.
|

WEDNESDAY
A field of 92 played one of our favourite games on Wednesday - an Irish Split 6 Stableford sponsored by 'The Leprechauns' aka Jim Henderson, Joe Daniels, Terry Lyons, Dave Lyons, Terry Magill and Grant Smallacombe.

|
There were some rumblings that the event wasn’t being taken seriously enough and that being an Irish event, the worst score should win and the ball run down should be a ball run up but they were promptly dismissed by the Chief Leprechaun.
|
|
|
Unexpectedly, the scoring system decided to join the fun and turn 'Irish' delaying the result but, with some astute work by Grant and Jim (he's Irish you know), we got there.
|
The Clelland Team of Don Clelland, Geoff Cowan, Joe Daniels and Dave Lyons combined well to post 88 points and claim first place.
|
The Cairns Team of John Cairns, Peter Crosby, Greg Flanagan and Ray Lally finished with 86 to take Runner Up.
|
The Johnstone Team of Glen Johnstone, Jim Prendergast, Bruce Wilshire and John Weursching finished in 3rd place with 85.
|
|
The next two weeks are a 'single stab-afest' with next Wednesday a Stableford sponsored by 'The 3 Mouse-keteers' and the following Wednesday a Stableford sponsored by 'The Golf Tragics'.
|
|
|
|
HOST DAY
The District 2 Man Aggregate Stableford will be held on 20th March at Maroochy River.
|
Cooroy is fielding 5 teams:
Don Clelland and Brian Clemow
Peter Crosby and Greg Flanagan
Peter Palmer and Graham Laing
Andy Stewart and Andre Smit
Matt McQueen and Anthony Jones

|
Cooroy teams typically perform well in these District Events so enjoy the day and bring home some gold.

NEW COURSE STAFF & VOLUNTEER AMENITIES BUILDING
|
|
You might have noticed the new air-conditioned staff and volunteer amenities building has been installed in the Greenkeepers Precinct. The building includes a lunch area and office for Warren.
|
A covered front deck is nearly complete as is the fit-out - see photos. A big thank you to Jeremy Orchard from Orchard Joinery for supplying and installing the 'fit out'.
|
|
Once the amenities building is finished the layout of the existing shed will be reorganised to provide a dedicated workshop and maintenance area and a more efficient flow of machines in and out of the shed.
