WEDNESDAY
A misty start for what turned out to be a magnificent winters day, perfect for golf. You needed 38 or better to step into the winners circle.
|
Thanks to our long time member sponsors 'The Bush Boys' (there are a lot of them - they know who they are).
|
Mike Kent continued his good form to take A Grade with 39 from Runner Up, Michael Todd 38 on countback from Tony Hayes 38.
|
Host Day Captain, Dave Lyons, had a good day to take B Grade with 39 from Darryl Ayers and Andrew Dick.
|
John McNamara, one of 'The Bush Boys', made a welcome return to the winners circle with 38 to claim C Grade from Paul O'Hare and Gary Webster.
|
Andrew Carson collected a bottle of wine in the lucky draw to celebrate scoring two NTP's.
|
Next Wednesday is the June Monthly Medal sponsored by John Madill Toyota.
|
The following Wednesday, 9th June, is a Stableford and Qualifying Round for the 2021 Single Matchplay Championship.
|
Wednesday, 16th June, is a 4 Man Ambrose and the much anticipated annual Vets versus Greens Staff event. Expect the obstacles and challenges set by the greens staff to be ‘interesting’. Newish member, Bruce Dooley (6ft plus) joins Ray Glover (5ft nothing) and Dave Lyons (5ft something) in the renamed (again) 'We Stand Somewhat Taller' group sponsoring the event. It is a shotgun start at 8:00am with a Special General Meeting following the competition.

HOST DAY PROGRAM

We hosted Nambour on Monday with as field of 65. Cooroy swept the prizes with some very good scores. Terry McCulloch shot an impressive 41to take A Grade from an inform Terry Lyons with 39. Joe Daniels shot an equally good 39 to take B Grade on countback from Wayne Carty. Both grades went to 4th place. We did, however, allow Nambour two NTP's.

We host Tin Can Bay on Monday, 14th June for a slightly later shotgun start at 8:15am to allow travel time for our visitors. The nomination sheet is available in the clubhouse.
|
The District Matchplay Championship will be held at Gympie on Thursday, 17th June. We had success when last played in 2019 with Cooroy winning the A Grade Matchplay in a dramatic sudden death shootout. More shortly. As this is a team event the cost is funded by Cooroy Vets.

Although the numbers are disappointing we will provide the free bus for the trip to Maryborough on Tuesday, 1st June. If anyone still wishes to nominate they should contact Grant on 0439171707. The bus will leave from the Cooroy railway station eastern car park (Noosa side of the track) at 6:15am sharp, boarding and loading golf clubs at 6:00am. NOTE: Do not park at the golf club as there is a major event at the club that day. Click the button below for a list of players - those riding the bus are highlighted in yellow.

Sean and his wife Collen were both keen golfers. Colleen was feeling a little neglected and wanted to know how much Sean loved her. 'If I died tomorrow, she asked 'and you got remarried, would you give her my jewellery?' 'What an awful thing to ask, exclaimed Sean. 'but of course not'. 'And would you give her any of my clothes - no honey, of course not'. ' 'What about my golf clubs?' Sean 'no, she's left handed!'
