Week ending 19th March 2022

Hi reader,

HOST DAY PROGRAM

Headland want our nominations back to them on Monday 21st March for our visit to them on Monday, 28th March.

We will be collecting the sheet from the clubhouse on Monday. If you want to nominate but are unable to get to the club you can text our Host Day Captain, Dave Lyons on 0419722104 with your name and Golflink number by Monday afternoon.
St Patricks Day

WEDNESDAY

It was all green and orange in a lively clubhouse for our first shotgun start in a long time to celebrate St Patrick's Day. The Guinness flowed.

Considering recent flooding, the course is in remarkable condition. The impressive effort put in by Course Superintendent, Warren Smith, greens staff and volunteers to fix cart paths and make the course playable in such a short time frame is very much appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks to 'The Leprechauns' (they know who they are) for sponsoring our newly named Group Best Ball Split 6 (aka “Irish 4 Ball Stableford”). We had a field of 103 and the benefit of the new golf management system calculating team scores.

In a close contest the Maloney Team of 'newish' members (Ross Maloney, Michael Lunney, Cam Darby and Steve Paice) took out the main prize with 86 from the Henderson Team (Jimmy Henderson, Grant Smallacombe, Tony Atkins and Terry Magill) 85.

The hold up in posting prizes turned out to be a minor issue and was quickly resolved - just part of the learning process with the new system. Competition prizes are posted to member House Accounts in real time and available for the winners to spend immediately.

Although there were delays registering players - we will probably pre-print score cards for future shot gun starts - the new system again proved its worth. We wrapped up the competition in record time with the Vets committee able to relax for a drink after and head home early for once.

An Irish Joke
The barman says to Paddy, ‘Your glass is empty, fancy another one?’
Looking puzzled, Paddy says ‘Why would I be needing two empty glasses?’

An Irish man frees a genie

Happy to be released from his confinement, the genie grants him 3 wishes.

The Irishman thinks about it, and says "I want me a pint of Guinness that is never empty."

So *poof* a pint appears, filled to the rim with the rich brown drink. The man drinks it down, and when he places it back on the bar, it's filled up again.

"So, what would you like for your other two wishes, sir?"

"I want two more of these, then!"
