Hi reader
The response to our appeal for volunteers has been fantastic. I have been overwhelmed with offers to help. What a great club we have.

Wayne, Terri and myself did a walk around the course today to assess the situation and were astounded as to how little damage was caused by this event. There is debris in various places around the golf course and the paths have lost gravel but there has been no obvious damage to the greens or tees.

The bunkers have lost all the sand down to clay and there is major damage to the 6th creek bridge which has been washed away as well as one very large piece of concrete paving.

We had concerns about the structural integrity of the bridge on the 7th hole which had at least 2m of water rushing over it appears to be sound at this time, but will need further investigation and will need replacing in the not too distant future.

We are hoping that we get the course cleaned up on Monday and Tuesday. We have enough volunteers for these two days, but this will depend on the weather as it has started raining again.

After walking around the course it is obvious that we will have trouble getting vehicles onto the course without causing damage to the fairways so we may be restricted in many places to piling up the debris for collection and removal when conditions improve.

Thanks everyone for your support and patience. We will have a better idea on what is needed after we start cleaning up and may need to call for help again in the near future.
