Con Russell is recovering from a triple bypass operation. Con being Con he probably jogged back to his room after the surgery.

Welcome aboard to new members Steve Jackson and Greg Topping.

SCORE CARD SCANNING

We had an angry Captain after card errors on Monday. One card was scanned as a hole in one on both 17 and 18.

Even though we went to a lot of trouble handing out a flyer on Wednesday, we still had two players who made the mistakes we had outlined.

Now that the correct procedure has been explained to everyone, we will be disqualifying anyone who posts a better score than the score they actually had. If you are unsure on the correct procedure, please see one of the committee.

Remember you are responsible for agreeing your score with your marker before you scan your card.

The most common error is not checking that your scanned score matches the score you agree with your marker. If it doesn't match, you need to correct any discrepancies via the kiosk screen and save the changes. Players are making changes but then walking away from the screen without clicking the save button.

NTP's

Before writing your name on a NTP card, players need to check if they are eligible for the hole.

When you write a name on the NTP card ensure it is legible. If it is your NTP shot you should ensure the name can be read. If we can't read it, then the name may be ignored. Claiming it later won't carry any weight.

The conditions (Grades and sometimes 2nd or 3rd shot) are clearly marked on both the top of the NTP container and the card inside the container. These conditions change from time to time. Take more care as just recently we had the case of a C-Grade player marking his shot after having 2 shots when it was a 1st shot day.

We also had an A Grade player putting his name down on a C Grade pin shot. Pay more attention, be more careful and read the conditions.

WEDNESDAY

On the positive side, we had a field of 113 for our Red Tee Day sponsored by Graeme ‘Ossie’ Osborne. We seem to break the field record each week.

It was a day of mostly 39's. Best score of the day went to Ken McKay with 41 to win B Grade from Neville Kunst 39 and Derek Wood 39.

Joe Daniels hit form with 40 to take C Grade from Andrew Aves 39 and Jim Gregg 39.

Keith Harkins had a good day, winning A Grade with 40 and claiming two NTPs. Paul Korczynski and Peter Crosby finished runner up and 3rd place with, you guessed it, 39 each.

HOST DAY PROGRAM

2022 02 07 - John Small
We have a large field of ~107 for the visit by Mt Coolum on Monday, 14th February, 2022 - 68 from Mt. Coolum and 39 Cooroy. Numbers are down a little but this is always a big day. A draft time sheet showing tee times for all players is on the website. See link below.

We had a good field of 92 players for the visit by Pelican Waters on Monday, 7th February. More than half of the Pelican Waters players were in A Grade and they took all three prizes in that Grade. Their John Small started slowly with a bogey on the first hole before carding 33 gross on the front nine. He had seven birdies on the back nine for 63 gross. His handicap of +3 resulted in a score of 40 Stableford points, which was 4 better than the second best score of the day. Considering he is nearing 70 years young, it was a phenomenal effort.

Wayne Carty took out B grade with 35 points, and Gary Dwyer came third in B Grade with 34. Garry Stephens continues his good form winning C Grade with 36. Good to see Ron Blount back on the winners list taking out second with 35 and Darryl Ayers came third with 33.

Cooroy won 5 of 8 NTP’s – Greg Michael's' second shot on the first saw him win the prestigious Thai Tong voucher; Andre Smit won the C grade NTP on the 4th, Peter Crosby A grade on the 6th, Tony Atkins C grade on the 10th and Gary Dwyer B grade on the 15th.

We collected 11 of 18 balls in the run down which went to 31. Clearly Pelican spent up big in the raffles winning 12 of the 13 prizes on offer.

A BIG thank you to our Course Superintendent, Warren Smith and his greens staff for getting the course in such good condition, especially his work on the bunkers before play. Good feedback was received from visiting players about the course, particularly our greens.
