Hi reader,
2021 Monthly Medal Winners List

WEDNESDAY

We are heading towards a great finish for 2021 with another record field of 103 for the November Monthly Medal and of course, one of the days highlights, 'Jimmy's Famous Burger and Beer' at Marty's Hut. Thanks Brian and Jimmy - well up to your usual standard.

There were some very good performances in each grade. Terry Lyons had one of his best days but, was on tenterhooks for most of the afternoon waiting for the field to return. Much to Terry's relief, and joy, the chasers steadily fell away leaving him standing at the top of A Grade. A great effort by Terry after spending a few days in hospital with a leg injury.

Jack Ruig returned to the winners lists to take B Grade with 66 from Trevor Kinneally 67 and Tom Williams 67.

The 'Lenske Boys' continued their good form with Rick taking the spotlight with the best score of the day, 62, to win C Grade from Ian Mulhall and Tony Kershaw. Not to be outdone, Jim Lenske grabbed a NTP and place in the run down.

It was great to see Derek Clayton back on the course playing golf after suffering a nasty hit to the head by a golf ball.

The contenders for the 2021 Medal of Medals, to be played on Wednesday, 1st December 2021, are listed below.

HOST DAY PROGRAM

A field of 74 played in our last Host Day of the year when Headland visited on Monday 15th of November. We received very positive feedback from Headland players about our course, especially our greens and surrounds so we will pass that information back to Warren and his team.

Cooroy took out seven of the nine major prizes on offer. Andy Stewart won A grade with 37 points and had the second best score of the day. The best score was from Rudy Agerbeek who had 38 to win B grade, and says he will be playing more host days in future. Second in B grade was David Attrill with 36 and Mister consistency Andrew Dick came third with 35. There was a three way tie in C grade with Andrew Aves, Tony Atkins and Mike Smith having 33 points needing countback to sort out the placings. We only won one of the six NTP’s on offer. The ball rundown went to 31 with full results posted on the website.

This means the Jim Penman Host Day Trophy for 2021 has been resolved. The aggregate of a players ten best Stableford scores in host day competitions counts towards this prestigious annual trophy. The player with the highest aggregate score decides the winner with prizes awarded to 10 places.

Brian Clemow clung on to claim top spot on the leaderboard by a narrow margin from Mike Kent.

We expected a lot more movement in the placings of the top six before Monday, but the pressure must have got to them. There was much more volatility in the race to get into the top 10 for others. Good scores by Andy Stewart, Andrew Dick and Mike Smith got them over the line there.

Here are some interesting facts about this years Host Day winner Brian Clemow; Brian came 3rd in 2018 with 363 points, 2nd in 2019 with 372 points and won this year with 347 points. His score of 347 this year would have just scraped in for 10th place last year. It may be due to players not participating in as many games plus handicapping changes - but, Brian is 'The Guru'.

The full leaderboard is available via the link below.

Congratulations to them all and they will be presented with their goodies at our Christmas Party.

Brian Clemow 347
Mike Kent 344
Peter Crosby 338
Greg Michael 336
Jo Daniels 335
Wayne Carty 334
Andy Stewart 334
Mike Smith 331
Darryl Ayers 327
Andrew Dick 326

A very big thank you to our two Raffle sellers Don Clelland and Joe Daniels for their entertaining salesmanship.
