WEDNESDAY
We are none the wiser about who is who with our sponsors for the day, “The 4 Stooges” aka Matt Saunders, Gary Menyweather, Darryl Ayers and Bruce Otto. You decide - Matt’s hair is a bit of a giveaway for starters.
|
The stooges once made a movie based on golf. In the plot the stooges work for a beer company sponsoring a golf tournament in which cash prizes will be awarded. They decide to play but, know nothing about golf so they head to the golf club to practice. Moe finds an open area to practice but the only thing he hits is the ground which is soon postmarked with divots. And, Larry practices putting but a tree root gets in the way and he tears up the putting green in his effort to extract the seemingly endless root. Curly gets his ball stuck in a tree and decides the only way to retrieve it is by chopping down the tree. All of this destruction is noticed by an outraged greens superintendent to whom Moe’s explanation of the field of divots is “that the pieces are getting smaller”. Of course, the movie is fictional so any resemblance to events and activities at Cooroy is entirely coincidental!

You would be quietly confident after returning a score of 41 or 39 in a single Stableford. That is until Jim Lenske walked in the clubhouse with a cracker round of 44 to win B Grade from Bruce Otto and Trevor Kinneally.

Scott Bennett shot 39 to win A Grade from Gary Menyweather 36 and Terry Magill 34.
|
Joe ‘Pommie’ Daniels won C Grade with 38 from Bob Atkin 37 and Bob Read 36.
The rundown went to 34.
An interesting inquiry from a member today - how do you lodge a complaint about a player complaining too much?

Next Wednesday is a Single Stableford and colored ball event sponsored by 'The Critters' aka Brian Clemow and Tony Foster. We know Clemo is ‘The Guru’ but the other critter!

HOST DAY PROGRAM
A very enjoyable day of golf with plenty of positive feedback but no major success for Cooroy in the District 4 Man Ambrose. The Cooroy Team of Bronco Price, Brett LeMoy, Kerry Davies and Don Esposito did however, finish a respectable 7th and the team of Bob Noble, Keith Harkins, Andy Stewart and Andre Smit 10th in a field of 30 teams (120 players).

We hosted Maroochy River with a field of 70 on Monday with Cooroy taking all the grade prizes bar one. Andy Stewart, Wayne Carty and Don Clelland won their respective grades.
