Hi reader,

WEDNESDAY

No rain interruption and an all time record field of 106, including 8 visitors, for a 2 Man Ambrose with a twist. The twist’ required teams to play 6 tee shots off the red tees, 6 off the white tees and 6 off the blue tees, testing advance planning ability!

Visitors, Paul Nettles and Alan Pritchard from the Beaudesert and Redlands clubs, put in a great performance to take the main prize with 58¾, particularly as this was there first time on the course.

Runners up went to Tony Bernhagen and Kelvin Brittain with 59¼. Kelvin also took the NTP on the 7th.

The Stewart's (John and Andy) and Don Esposito and Kerry Davies shared 3rd place with 61¼.

An honorable mention for the Smallacombe and Henderson team with 63½ and a missed putt but, no prize – a life membership and being captain and vice captain counts for nothing!!

After winning a bottle of wine in the lucky draw for the second time in three weeks Kerry Martin is now known as Kerry (I win everything) Martin.

NEXT WEDNESDAY

Next Wednesday is a Single Stableford sponsored by 'The Four Stooges' aka Matt Saunders, Gary Menyweather, Darryl Ayers and Bruce Otto. Perhaps they will disclose who is who on the day - Larry, Curly Joe, Shemp and Moe!

HOST DAY PROGRAM

The Vets District Championship enjoyed a big field with lots of sponsorship, and they said you would be unlucky if you didn’t win something in the raffles. Half of our 12 players did well in the raffles – the best being John Barringer who picked up a prize worth $170. While we scored well in the raffles, we didn’t on the golf course.

Joe Daniels was beaten in a countback for 3rd in C grade and got a ball in the rundown, as did Peter Crosby and Greg Michael. Rundown went to 30. One gentleman, who had the best gross of 71, ended up 25 centimeters short of a hole in one on the 12th, and missed out winning a new Toyota car. Madill Toyota felt sorry for him and gave him a tyre for getting so close.

It was a great day well run by Peregian Vets, and congratulations to them.

We hosted 47 Peregian Springs Vets last Monday in a field of 78. Cooroy players put up a good showing with Mike Smith winning C Grade with 39, Jim Henderson runner up in C Grade with 38, Wayne Carty runner up in B Grade with 36. A great day enjoyed by our visitors.

Continuing our busy host day program, we host Maroochy River on Monday, 18th October 2021.
