Round 2 saw the 2021 Vets Championship decided - almost!
A three-way tie in A Grade will be decided by a play-off between Andy Stewart, Keith Harkins and Grathan Leatherbarrow at 9:15am on Tuesday, 14th September 2021. The contestants will play 1, 17 and 18 then sudden death on the same holes if necessary.

Jim Lenske put together another great round to take the title of Nett Champion and B Grade Champion.
|
Dennis Beckhaus put together a great round to take the title of C Grade Champion.
|
Congratulations to the winners.

WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER MONTHLY MEDAL
Some very good scores on pretty slick greens.

Thanks to generous sponsorship by 'The Good, The Bad, The Ugly' (aka Andy Stewart, Bob Noble, Keith Harkins, John Stewart, Jeff McDonald) we were able to put on extra NTP's and a long drive. Andy Stewart took out three NTP's including an Eagle on the 8th, and the longest drive. Andy hit his tee shot on the 18th about a metre short of the water culvert running across the fairway - an amazing effort. Andy donated 2 bottles of wine and 78 balls and then proceeded to win most of it back!

Terry Magill won the A Grade medal with 66 from Keith Harkins 67 and Peter Brown 71 c/b.
|
The B Grade medal went to John Butler with 67 from Jim Lenske 71 on countback from Peter Palmer.
|
Dennis Beckhaus had a good day taking out the C Grade medal and two NTP's in addition the the C Grade Champion. The only thing Dennis didn't win was a bottle of wine in the Lucky Draw.

The Kevin Tonkin Best Gross went to: (1) Keith Harkins 76 (2) Grathan Leatherbarrow 77 (3) Terry Magill 79.

Terry Lyons (photo) was determined not to be undone by a minor slip up like putting his chip to the 13th green in the water. He got the ball out but, it wasn't too hard to tell where he had been by the state of his clothes. Unfortunately it was all in vain - Terry didn't even make the rundown.

WHAT's COMING UP
Next week is a 2 Man Aggregate Stableford. It is a two man team event. Full handicaps are used for each player with the Stableford points scored for each hole recorded and then aggregated for the team.

We play our annual Aussie vs International All Stars on Wednesday, 22nd September. The respective captains select teams from members playing on the day according to heritage.

- International All-Stars: Jim Henderson (Captain). Player or one parent born overseas.
- Australian Attack: Grant Smallacombe (Captain). All Aussie heritage.
- True Blue Aussie: Dave Lyons (Captain) All Aussie heritage.
Offers of inducements to play in a particular team are considered a legitimate recruiting tactic by team captains. There is a lot to play for! The losing captains must keep the coveted Pewter Mug full of beer for the winning captain for the afternoon of the competition.

Grant is keen to make it four wins in a row for Aussie Attack. It's been so long since Jimmy and Dave drank from the prized Pewter Mug there might be some desperate tactics employed.
