If an eagle is a big bird what do you call a pair of big birds? A super achievement by our own super man, Mike Kent with an eagle on the 11th and the 16th. An impressive result on the 16th since it required a long third shot to the green and in the hole from the wrong fairway.

WEDNESDAY
A beautiful winters day on the Sunshine Coast with some pretty impressive performances in a field of 103, including six visitors. We welcomed the return of several of our regular visitors from down south. They won't be too unhappy if COVID restrictions mean they have to stay a little longer.
|
The Old Course Challenge completed with Gary Webster taking round 2 with 23 points on a countback. Mark Kelly produced one of his best ever rounds of 69 off the stick to take the title of Old Course Challenge champion. Round 1 winner, 'The Great White Hope', Don Clelland failed dismally and only added 8 to his 1st round score of 21. There is a rumour Don also failed in the fishing challenge. The overall result:

Mark Kelly also claimed A Grade from Laurie Staples 38 and Andy Stewart 38.

Ray Lally returned to form with 38 to take A Grade from Terry Wilson 38 and Andrew Dick 38.
|
Gary Webster had a good day also taking C Grade with 40 from Bob Read 38 and Andrew Carson 37.
|
There were some impressive long drives on the 2nd. Andy Stewart hit his drive out of site.

2021Vets Single Matchplay Championship
We are into R3 of the knock out rounds. Russ Rylance plays Gary Menyweather and Joe Daniels plays Ron Ballantyne. Both should be good matches - all local boys!

We host Noosa Vets on Monday, 16th August 2021. It is a time start. The nomination sheet is available in the clubhouse.
