2019 VETS AGM

See the post below for the results from the 2019 AGM held on Wednesday and Reports presented.

One of the first tasks for the new committee (actually a reinvigorated old broken down committee) will be determining funds surplus to our operating requirements and available for funding initiatives with Cooroy Golf Club. A number of significant fixed costs such as Capitation Fee, Xmas Lunch and Annual Prizes fall in the period November through January so we need to take these into account when determining surplus funds. These costs are expected to be around $6,000 this year.

The weather has not always been kind in recent years restricting our ability to generate income in the early months of the year so a cash contingency is essential to prudent management of our finances. Allowance for this contingency is also taken into account when determining surplus funds.

As indicated at the AGM presentation we are currently in discussions with The Club about providing funding for a significant project - no decision has been made as yet. As a guiding principle projects funded by the Vets need to demonstrate an outcome that significantly raises the standard of the course or facilities or services. The Vets do not fund work necessary to provide a safe, well maintained and presented course and facilities as that is the responsibility of Cooroy Golf Club.

HIGHLIGHTS of THE WEEK

Thanks to "The Critters" (aka Brian Clemow and Tony Foster) for sponsoring Wednesdays Stableford competition. Tony has made a quick recovery from his recent surgery and was able to make it to the clubhouse for the presentation.

Russ Rylance shot a great 44 to earn himself first place in A Grade with Geoff Linde collecting runner-up with 41 on countback from Bruce McLean.

Rusty Ashby rushed to make it to the tee on time but settled quickly to record a very good 44 to take B Grade from Dale Rickard 42 and Gary Dwyer 41.

Con Russell made a return to the podium with 41 from Rob Powell 40 on countback from Wayne McKinnon. It took Con a while to get to the podium as he stopped at every table to give a blow by blow description of how well he played.

Congratulations to Bob Read (picture - to avoid confusion Bob is the one on the right) for a Hole-in-One on the 10th - C Grade second shot. There was a short debate about whether a hole-in-one qualified Bob to claim the NTP (second shot!!) but our Captain was feeling good so awarded it.

And good news for Tony Kershaw. Not only did Tony win the Sweeney Todd Barber voucher for the NTP on the 3rd but Sweeney has a special on style cuts at the moment - see picture.

Peter Smith put it in the hole for two on the 4th to collect the Richies Bakery NTP.

WHAT's COMING UP

4th December 2019: December Monthly Medal and 2019 Medal of Medals.

4 Man Ambrose, Xmas Lunch & Presentation Day: mark Wednesday, 18th December in your diary. We will be inviting sponsors and past members to join us for a celebration of another great year for Cooroy Vets. Cooroy Golf Club is providing the catering for the event.
