WEDNESDAY

We live in interesting times - to describe this year as unprecedented is an understatement.
|
We resumed playing with restrictions on the 10th June 2020 after our competition calendar went completely dark in April and May. Despite (or in spite of) the restrictions there have been positive impacts of COVID-19 with an extraordinary increase in Wednesday golf participation.
|
The numbers tell the story.
|
We completed our 2020 financial year on 30th September with another good field of 96 resulting in an average field of 94 for September, a record month for Cooroy Vets.
In the four months (June, July, August and September) since resumption of play we played 17 competitions and 1,505 rounds for an average field of 89, again, a record for Cooroy Vets.
For the same period in 2019 we played 16 competitions and 1,213 rounds for an average field of 76, a 24% increase in rounds played.
So far, the journey back to somewhat normal operations has been positive and provides optimism for the future – we have added extra lines to our Wednesday nomination sheet! This optimism is, however, tempered by the reality that the journey ahead will be no less interesting and challenging.

Thanks to Jimmy Henderson and BBQ wrangler, Brian McLoughlin, for the great hamburgers with produce supplied by our NTP sponsors, Cooroy Harvest Fresh, Richies Bakery and Noosa Outlook Specialty Meats. The hamburgers were up to the usual high standard.

Jeff McDonald shot his best ever score of 74 to take A Grade from Russ Rylance and Kerry Davies.
|
Jeff also took out the Kevin Tonkin Best Gross from Wayne Hastie and Kerry Davies tied on 77.
|
Wayne Carty shot 68 to claim B Grade from Terry Lyons and AC Dick.
|
New member, Matt Saunders revealed his true potential to win C Grade with 60 from Rob Powell and Dennis Beckhaus.

|
A reminder to check the Lucky Draw sheet when you return to the clubhouse from your round. There are now 6 bottles of wine on offer.

HOST DAYS
If you are playing in the Vets/Cooroy women invitation 9-hole event next Tuesday, a reminder it is a 7:00 am shotgun start. You need to be on you designated tee ready to tee off at 7:00am.

7/10/2020: 'Red Course Day' Stableford with all play off the red tees. Sponsors - 'Red October Team'. Hopefully we will see Paul O'Hare return if he escapes quarantine on a sailing boat somewhere off the NSW coast.

If anyone has access to a petrol powered Hydraulic Log Splitter the club can use to reduce the effort and risk involved in splitting logs from recently felled trees, please let Tony Bernhagen know.

The 2020 Cooroy Golf Club AGM is scheduled for the evening of Tuesday 10th November at 7:00pm.
