WEDNESDAY
We welcomed three new members on Wednesday, David Tink, Richard Gibson and Kevin Pickford for their first game with the Vets and they collected some prizes. David Tink impressed, turning up for his first game wearing a Vets monogrammed logo shirt.
|
Don Clelland, a long time course work volunteer, earned the title 'Dangerous Don' with good reason but, Don has been very quiet lately....until Wednesday. The photo says it all ...Don what were you thinking!!

This week Bob Read made sure Grant was nowhere in sight when he hit off the 12th tee with the result he didn't hit the ball over the fence!
|
Highlights of the day: New member, Kevin Pickford, took out C Grade with 39 from Ron Blount and 'in form' Vice Captain, Jimmy Henderson. Kevin also picked up a bottle of wine in the Lucky Draw.
|
John Stewart had a very good 43 to take out B Grade from Graeme 'Ossie' Osborne and Trevor Kinneally.

Recent new member, Brett LeMoy took out A Grade with 40 from Grathan Leatherbarrow and Paul Hennessy (visitor).

Players are responsible for ensuring their scorecard is available to the scrutineers to determine results for the day. Vets score card boxes (they are colored and marked A, B and C Grade) for deposit of score cards are usually placed on the high bench near the Vets noticeboard. Or if the scrutineers are working on results at a table near the starters room you can hand your card to them. DO NOT use the wooden boxes used for other club competition score cards or your card may not be considered.

2020 DISTRICT HOST DAY PROGRAM
Unfortunately, COVID-19 has severely disrupted the 2020 Host Day program with events either cancelled or put on hold. A recent District meeting canvassed the possibility of some events going ahead.
|
While District Clubs have resumed play under restricted conditions, several have cancelled all home Host Day events for 2020. Most clubs are willing to travel to clubs that can hold host days.
|
Pelican Waters will not be in a position to offer any host day events in 2021 as the course will be restricted to 9 hole due to major construction work and remain so for 18 to 24 months.
We are due to visit Gympie on Tuesday, 22nd September and they are keen for the day to go ahead IF there is sufficient interest from our members. If you are interested in going to Gympie please let our Host Day Captain, Dave Lyons, know as soon as possible.
The District Team Challenge, Team Match Play and District Championships have been cancelled.
The District Two Ball Aggregate at Mt. Coolum has been re scheduled to Monday, 16th November and the District Four Ball Ambrose will still be hosted at Nambour on Tuesday, 20th October. We will provide more detail closer to the events.
Of course all of the above is dependent on there being no tightening of COVID-19 restrictions.
