REMINDERS
A reminder to observe parking rules when you park in the vicinity of the clubhouse. A neighbor complained recently because a vehicle had parked impeding access to their property. Our neighbors are usually pretty tolerant given the parking difficulties around the clubhouse but, may take stronger action if such incidents continue. Please exercise consideration and common sense.
Don't forget to save up your recyclables and drop them off in a bag at the bar. You will be contributing to club financials.

Organising and running a competition involves quite a lot of effort behind the scenes, so if you nominate to play but are unable to make your tee time or are not able to play, please ensure you notify the club as quickly as practical so that we can reorganise the field.

The last spots on the Wednesday nomination sheet are now reserved for our starters.

Marty's Hut is always popular, particularly on a beautiful Sunshine Coast winters day, as players stop for a free hamburger, drink and a chat. There was amusement at one point as one group jumped back into their hire cart to continue play only to have pointed out that it was the wrong red cart. They hadn't noticed there were no clubs on board!
|
We welcomed two visitors on the day, Paul Hennessy and Rob Little, friends of Brian Clemow, who were wearing Cooroy Vets golf shirts purchased last year during the 'Great Vets Logo Shirt Incident'. As our Captain, Grant, commented over a chat at Marty's Hut; it was great to have them play with the Vets but he didn't need to be reminded of the incident. In a freakish coincidence, the name patched over on one of the visitors shirts was our master cook, Brian McLoughlin.

Mike O'Donnell carded a very good 64 to take C Grade from Ron Blount and Dennis Beckhaus.
|
Bruce Wilshire claimed B Grade with 68 from Tony Foster and Ken McKay.
|
Mike Kent returned a great net 63 to take A Grade from Keith Harkins with 67 and 'Bronco’ Price with 69. Bronco had an exceptional day with a shared first place in the Kevin Tonkin Best Gross, NTP on the 7th and a bottle of red wine in the Lucky Draw to celebrate.
|
Just to prove golf is largely mental, Captain, Grant and Secretary, Rod took a run around the course and happened on the Lavender Group just as Bob Read was about to tee off on the 12th - yes the hole with out off bounds all the way from the tee to green. Grant casually suggested to Bob that he just ignore what was on the other side of the fence. Of course Bob proceeded to hit his tee shot over the fence. To make things worse, Bob then proceeded to hit the perfect tee shot to the green. The observers didn't stick around to see if Bob made the putt!
