MARTY’s HUT - FREE HAMBURGER & DRINK
There will be a compulsory stop at Marty’s Hut on Wednesday, 5th August, for a FREE hamburger and drink. NTP sponsors, Noosa Outlook Specialty Meats, Richies Bakery and Cooroy Harvest Fresh will supply the produce.

Retired Vet, Brian McLoughlin, will be on the BBQ assisted by Vice Captain and Chief Providor, Jimmy Henderson. We guarantee the best hamburgers on the Sunshine Coast.

WEDNESDAY
Thanks to The Jumping Jacks, aka Andrew Dick and Mike Smith, for sponsoring our Wednesday Single Stableford and Round 1 of the Foundation Members Old Course Challenge. After much thought, Andrew and Mike have decided to rename themselves The Top Ender's and invite anyone who has spent time in NT, no matter how short, to join the team for future sponsorship. Speak to Andrew or Mike if you are interested.

For those who don’t know, the old course holes are: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 16, 17 and 18. Ed Otto and Lionel Willett are our Foundation Members. Ed has retired but Lionel still plays aged 90 and a bit.
Prizes for the “Old Course Challenge”:
|
- 1 bottle of Red and 1 bottle of White wine for the best score for the 1st round.
- 1 bottle of Red and 1 bottle of White wine for the best score for the 2nd round.
- The winner (best score for the 2 rounds) receives an embroidered shirt, a dozen golf balls and name engraved on the perpetual trophy which they get to hold for 12 months. Last years winner, Peter Buchbach, returned the trophy on Wednesday and commented 'it looked very nice on my mantle piece.'
Round 1 winner: Jimmy (Irish) Henderson with 21 points earning himself two bottles of wine.

Single Stableford highlights: A Grade required a countback to determine all placings with Russ Rylance taking 1st place with 35 from Ray Lally and Shane Le-Gale.
|
Derek Wood took B Grade with 38 from Roddy Anderson, playing his first game with the Vets, and Wayne Carty.
|
C Grade produced the best scores of the day with Alex Kologaras carding 41 to take first place from Mike Smith 40 and Jim Henderson 37.
|
Don Esposito experienced a near catastrophic failure of equipment on Wednesday which can best be described by the corny old golf joke - "Why do golfers carry a second pair of trousers in their bag....wait for it. In case they get a hole in one." Unfortunately, Don wasn't carrying a second pair of trousers and he didn't get a hole-in-one!

As there are still health concerns, particularly for our age group, suspension of NTPs will stay for a little longer.

Bev Caldwell, the daughter of the Vets only Life Member, Jim Penman, passed away recently. Bev and other family members traditionally join us each year for our Xmas lunch and final day to present the Jim Penman Awards. Our condolences to the family. Jim was Vets Captain for 16 years. The Jim & Ilene Penman Memorial Gardens near the 18th tee, built and maintained by Cooroy Vets, are pictured below.
NEXT WEEK is an 18-hole Single Stableford and the 2nd and final round of the Foundation Members Old Course Challenge.
