Hi reader,
Xmas Montage 2

HIGHLIGHTS from WEDNESDAY

That's a wrap for another successful albeit eventful year of Vets golf.

A big field of 95 hit off at 8:00 am for a 4 Person Ambrose and finished in good time. It must have been the attraction of a beer and smorgasbord lunch waiting in an air-conditioned clubhouse. Each player received a unique writing implement at registration for completing their score card.

We also celebrated Lionel Willett's 90th birthday with a cake which everyone got to enjoy as dessert. In view of the fire ban we had to limit the candles to one.

Highlights of the day: The host day boys, the Botting Team (Phil Botting Geoff Currie, Mick McGreal, Geoff Pembroke) won the day from the Smallacombe Team in second place and the Clelland Team taking third place.

Thanks to Cooroy Golf Club catering (Wayne, Leith Barr, and Terri Cairns) we enjoyed an excellent smorgasbord lunch intermixed with the presentation of annual awards and trophies, a few drinks with lots of laughs and caught up with friends. It was great to see a few past members attend lunch.

Congratulation to all our trophy event winners. A full rundown of our 2019 Annual Trophy Winners will be posted on the website shortly.

As has been the case throughout the year days like this don't just happen without a lot of organisation and work behind the scenes. Thanks to the Vets Committee and Grant and Jimmy in particular, for your efforts in making the day a success. Thank you also to Kevin Crundall, Don Clelland, Ron Blount, John Stewart and handicapper Assunta Easton for providing assistance throughout the year. If I've missed anyone my apologies, it's been a rough year.

Thanks also to Bob Watson for his photographic efforts, sans camera on Wednesday, but with a trusty smartphone.

Course Superintendent, Todd McNamee and his hardworking team, joined us for lunch so we could thank them personally. We very much appreciate their efforts and the much-improved presentation of the course, particularly in the current tough conditions.

The contribution by our volunteers, many of them Vets, has not gone unnoticed; your efforts throughout the year have made a difference.

To our sponsors, both internal and external, thank you once again for your support - it has been a record year for sponsorship. It was great that one of our NTP sponsors, Aubrey Cannon, from Sweeney Todd Barber could join us for a game. We are pleased to say that it looks like all our external sponsors will continue in 2020.

A reminder we start again in 2020 after a very short break on Wednesday, 8th January with a Monthly Medal and 8:00am shotgun.
