Description:

NEWS UPDATE CHIP IN is a communication aimed at providing insight into and encouraging active engagement in what’s happening at Cooroy Golf Club.

As it is published in the form of an email newsletter it supports moves to take advantage of technology in engaging with members and others.

The job involves gathering interesting articles/news and then putting this together as an email newsletter under the title NEWS UPDATE CHIP IN.  News Update is then published to subscribers to this particular communication.  You can subscribe through the Subscribe feature on the website.  You don’t need to be a member to subscribe.

An important task under this job is monitoring rejection of emails because of incorrect email addresses.  Steps need to be taken to establish correct information for a subscriber when a rejection occurs.

The frequency of this communication is determined by whether there is something interesting or important to say.

The key volunteer roles in this activity are:

Editor: overall responsibility for pulling it all together.
Roving New Gatherer: gathering news (with appropriate level of detail) and providing ideas and input for each Issue.

Skills/Expertise Required:
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to think from a reader or audience perspective.
  • Good working knowledge of software (MailPoet) used to produce email newsletter – Editor only.
  • Perseverance.
Physical Attrributes of Job:
  • No physical effort involved apart from typing but need perseverance.
Tools/Equipment:
  • Ready access to a computer device connected to internet and email.  Exchanges between volunteers working on this job and news sources are best done via email.
  • Access to back-end of website – Editor only.
