Despite rain threatening it never really eventuated for what turned out to be a great day of golf and fun with plenty of contests and extra challenges on the course. Most of us play the course on a regular basis so it can be a bit of a challenge with club selection when you suddenly find tees moved from their usual position. Playing the par 5, 11th with just a 7 iron and putter produced some interesting results – 1 birdie, 14 pars, and 6 bogeys. Will we see the 7 iron un-holstered more often in future? The ‘longest smack’ over the creek on the 17th from a tee moved a way forward favoured our long hitters and saw some great shots.
A great day was enhanced by the presence of a number of our past members: Jim Dunstan (Cooroy Golf Club Patron) Ed Otto (Life Member – Cooroy Golf Club), Wally Grant (Life Member – Cooroy Golf Club), Jack White (Life Member – Cooroy Golf Club) as well as current Vet Lionel Willett also a Life Member – Cooroy Golf Club. More immediate past members Dave Chapman, Les Arthur, Garry Sheales and Peter Reilly also joined us with Les, Garry and Peter enjoying a game of team golf.
Gavin Moore from Madill’s, valued long time sponsor of our monthly medal competition, joined us also, playing in the winning team as well as taking out the much coveted Noosa Outlook Meats NTP on the 15th. Gavin kindly donated his winnings back to the Vets. If you are looking for a new or used car see Madill’s and make sure you mention you are from Cooroy Vets.
Feedback on the day has been overwhelmingly positive. Thank you must also go to Tanju from Thai Tong Restaurant for the excellent lunch. Thai Tong is also one of our NTP sponsors.
