VETS: Newsletter week ending 16th December 2017

We kicked off at 8:00 am with a shotgun start, played 18 holes of 4 Person Ambrose golf with presentation, fed a clubhouse full of people (thanks to SafeHands Catering), presented annual trophies, had a few drinks and lots of laughs, caught up with old friends and wrapped up a successful day around 1.45 pm.  A great way to finish a very successful year for veteran golfers.

Santa arrived early (perhaps due to an updated mode of transport) dressed accordingly, played golf and joined us for lunch – rumour has it he even collected some prizes!

New member, Graeme Caffyn, got off to a good start with the Vets playing in the winning 4 Man Ambrose Team – welcome aboard Graeme.

Thanks once again to ‘The Bush Boys’ (there are currently 13 in the group) for sponsoring our Xmas 4 Man Ambrose.  They sponsor three events throughout the year and have been doing so for a very long time.  Your support is appreciated.

We were privileged to have members of the Penman Family (photo right), Bruce and Carol Penman and, Bev and Kevin Caldwell, join us for golf and lunch and present our prestigious Jim Penman Host Day and Jim Penman Single Matchplay trophies.  As the family will continue sponsorship of these trophies we look forward to catching up again next year.

We also welcomed Mike Kelly from long-time sponsor, John Madill Toyota.  Mike is hoping to join us each monthly medal in 2018 and, if possible, squeese in a game of golf.   Madill’s have some great Xmas specials at the moment so give Mike a call if you are looking for a new or used vehicle.

Greens Supervisor, Paul Dawson and our hard working greens staff were also able to find time to join us for lunch.  We appreciate their efforts, particularly when the grass is growing quicker than Errol Radley moves between Tees – very fast.

Well, that’s 2017 officially done,….but not quite!

A reminder that week 1 of our three competition Holiday Season Stableford Competition kicks off next Wednesday.

We kick off our 2018 District Host Day season with a visit to Pelican Waters on Monday, 15th January 2018.  The online nomination facility will be available as soon as we have details from Pelican Waters.

Finally a very merry Xmas to members and their families from your Vets Committee – thank you again for your support in 2017.  Bring on 2018.
