VETS – Newsletter week ending 15th August 2015

NEW MEMBERS

Welcome to 2 new members – Jason Egan and Chris Nielsen.  Make them feel welcome.

Jason made a very auspicious start with the Vets taking out A Grade with 39 points.

CAPTAIN’s CORNER

A total of 93 players took part in our Stableford game on Wednesday.  This compares very favorably with last year’s field size of 78.

TanjuIt was a great day and I hope everyone enjoyed the taste of Thai food from our sponsor Thai Tong Restaurant.   If you enjoyed the flavors I am sure owners, Tanju (picture left) and Ya would love to see you at their restaurant which is located at 3 Stevens Street, Yandina, phone 54468330 – make sure you mention Cooroy Vets.

Our competition sponsor Derek Clayton couldn’t complete his round due to bruised or cracked ribs. For those that weren’t at the presentation, Derek was very generous by donating a substantial amount of prize money that he had built up in his Cooroy Golf Club Account, to the Vets.  Thank you Derek!

Our best score of the day was from the very steady Brian Flynn who took out the B-Grade with 41 points.

Throughout the year I have been keeping the stats on our Stableford games.   This year we are adding a “Most Consistent Stableford Competition” as one of our trophy events.  The winner will receive a prize to the value of $100.00.   The rules of the competition are that your best 10 Stableford scores for the year are added together.   The person with the most points at the end of the year will be the winner.

If there is a tie a count back of the best 6 scores will decide the winner, then best 3 scores, then best score.  Our leader after 13 games is Peter Buchbach with 374 points, which is an average of 37.4 over his best 10 games.  There are still 6 Stableford games to go to increase your tally.  The current Leader Board for this event will be circulated separately.

Coming up on October the 14th we will play our Stableford Competition off the Men’s Red Course. The Par for this course is 68 (holes 1-9 = 33) and (holes 10-18 = 35).  Holes 16 and 18 become par 4’s.  The slope rating for this course is 108.

NEW GOLF SHIRTS

Order numbers for new Cooroy Vets golf shirts have now reached 92.
