Much of the focus this year has been on cart paths and gardens which saw new concrete cart paths laid at the 1st green and 17th tee and an attractive new garden created in this area.

Work on the 18th Tee Project, undertaken with funding support from Cooroy Vets, is in the final stages with tee levelling and creation of a large garden area underway. The garden design incorporates a memorial to Jim and Ilene Penman, long time members of Cooroy Golf Club and Cooroy Vets.

We recognise the importance of our volunteers in undertaking these projects and the value of the hours they put in.  This value represents a huge hidden cost avoided and allows us to do much more than we could otherwise.  We could sit down and work out the numbers but if you had to put a value on the contribution of volunteers to Cooroy Golf Club it would simply be......

PRICELESSthank you

We lease our fleet of 22 hire carts.  The advantage of leasing is that carts are upgraded every two years or so.

Our next fleet upgrade, due shortly, is quite exciting as the new Ezgo carts are red and feature a GPS unit to guide you around the course AND restrict carts from certain areas such as hazards and green surrounds.

Having very successfully completed our four-week introduction to golf we had 15 of our 23 starters take up the introductory 9-hole membership offer.

Cooroy Women's Tuesday Club has seen a number of these new members enjoying the weekly 9-hole game accompanied by the more experienced players.

Other players have preferred to do 3- 4 holes again in the company of the Thursday Women’s Committee members, the blue shirts.

Coach Cyril, The Guru, has also seen several of our new members for ongoing lessons. The Clubhouse can be contacted for any further info or email Terri Cairns at cooroywomensgolfdirector@gmail.com

Classes continue year-round in 2018.  If you want to participate just turn up at 7:00 am on every 2nd Friday at the entrance gate near the cart sheds. We will announce the start date for 2018 in the next News Update.

At this time of year there are a lot of visitors on the Sunshine Coast with many looking for a game of golf in a friendly environment.

We are the ideal venue and offer an attractive Holiday Special - $15.00 for 9 or 18 holes everyday after 2:30 pm.

Spread the word!

The grand finale of the year will be Tuesday, 12th December for our Christmas luncheon and presentation day hosted by the Tuesday Club.

The Men will also play a January Monthly Medal on the 6th January for the first time.

The Women are running a summer competition on Thursday’s right the way through to open day next year - put your name on the sheet.

The events are all Stableford and the Trophy will be sponsored by The Club.

Condolences to Lionel and Muriel Willett who lost daughter, Cath, recently.

Unfortunately Kaye Gilmour had a fall recently and has had a hip replacement as a result.  On the brighter side, Kaye is now home and recovering well.

A woman goes into the local newspaper office to see that the obituary for her recently deceased husband is published. The obit editor informs her that there is a charge of 50 cents per word.

She pauses, reflects, and then says well, then, let it read "Fred Brown died."

Amused at the woman's thrift, the editor tells her that there is a seven word minimum for all obituaries.

She thinks it over and for a few seconds says, "In that case, let it read,

'Fred Brown died: golf clubs for sale.'
